Board of County Commissioners in regular session, specially called, those present being ti 1 Mr. Cummins, Mr. Pettit and Tear. O'Neil. Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the budget for the General Fund of the County of Washington for the fiscal year 1944 be finally adopted as advertised and revised by thel County Commissioners, the said budget having been available for public inspection in the Office of I ;the Chief Clerk of the County Commissioners from February 26, 1944, to March 18, 1944, in accordance {with the provisions of the Act of Assembly of July 18, 1935, and that the rate of taxation upon the valuation of properties of the County of Washington, in order to raise sufficient revenue to meet required expenditures for the fiscal year 1944, be fixed at five and one-half (52fl mills, which makes ithe payment of taxes.in the amount of fifty-five (55X) cents upon each $100.00 of assessed ; ;valuation of real estate and occupation. MINUTE BOOR COARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINOTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA R❑SS R. CUMMINS, FRANCIS E. PETTIT, J❑HN N.❑'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS MONONGAHELA PUBLISHING CO. 2, Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the proposal of Santoni's Furniture & Salvage Company for furnishing and installing carpet in Judge Carson's chambers be accepted, as follows: "I hereby bid to furnish and install Mohawk Cabinet carpet, as per sample submitted, with 32 oz. Denafelt padding in Judge Carson's chamber including two small halls in Washington County House, Washington, Pa., for the total sum of $438.00. All furniture is to be removed out of the room by County employees, and we will complete job as soon as possible." Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the proposal of Santoni's Furniture & Salvage Company for furnishing and installing linoleum in the Parole and Probation Office be accepted, as follows: `! "I hereby bid to furnish and lay in one of the offices at the Washington Court House, Washington, Pa., approximately 12' x 16' -- 1f8" gauge Veltone inlaid, pattern 2980 which is the only pattern we have on hand and are able to obtain at the present time, for the sum of $62.70. This is to be laid with double cemented against the molding on the floor. All the office equipment in the room must be removed and replaced in the room by County employees. Enclosed is pattern No. 2980 which we are bidding to furnish." Motion carried. Motion by Pair. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the Controller be authorized to advertise for bids for painting the Clerk of Court's and adjoining Parole and Probation Offices three coats of Grade A flat or semi -gloss paint on all plastered surfaces and varnishing all woodwork according to specifications to be secured from Chief Clerk to the County Commissioners. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the Chief Clerk be authorized to j execute lease between Washington Union Trust Company and Washington County Commissioners for c Rooms Nos. 1025 and 1026 in Washington Trust Building, for the term of fourteen (14) months, t I beginning March 1, 1944, and ending April 30, 1945, the total rental to be Eight hundred forty- seven ($847.00) Dollars, payable in monthly installments of $60.50, said rooms to be occupied by Supreme Court Justice Howard W. Hughes. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that Frank Sabolsky, of Marianna, Pa., be appointed as a member of the Washington County Housing Authority for a five-year period, i effective January 7, 1944; such appointment being made to replace J. Bruce McBride, who was I appointed on November 26, 1943, to serve until January 7, 1944, the date of the expiration 3 of the term of G. J. Hanna, resigned. Motion carried, with the Chief Clerk instructed to certify this action of the Board to the Federal Public Housing Authority, New York City, to the State Board of Housing, Harrisburg, Pa., and to the Washington County Housing Authority, i Washington, Pa., as well as to notify Mr. Sa.bolsky, by letter, of his appointment to the said Washington County .Housing Authority.
