Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the claim of Bentleyville Volunteer -
Fire Department for $15.00, as rental for use of building as a Polling Place for the Primary, held i
1 April 25, 1944, be approved for payment. Motion carried.
County Controller Harvey Stuart called into the meeting, for the purpose of awarding
contract in accordance with advertisement of the County Controller for bids an furnishing books
requested by the Judge of the Orphans' Court.
Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the contract for books in accordance
with said advertisement be awarded to A. Kirk ITrenshall3 on his bid of 892.50, ;
Motion carried, with County Controller Stuart present when this action was taken, and
instructed to return the certified checks of the unsuccessful bidders. i
County Controller Stuart excused from the meeting, and the regular order of business
continued.

Motion duly made and seconded that the following resolution be adopted:

"BE IT RESOLVED by the County Commissioners of Washington County, that
the plans submitted by the Department of Highways for the changing of State
Highway Route 242, Section S-1, in Canton Township, between Stations 57gOO
and 629X00; 65SX00 and 697/00; 742/00 and 773X44; have been examined and the
County Commissioners agree that the County will not assume liability for any property
damages resulting from the construction of the highway as contemplated these
g y p by
plans, or any damages arising out of any changes or alteration of drainage
resulting from the construction or maintenance of the highways, or any damages
resulting to any property or holdings of any Public Utility Company; or any and
all damage resulting to any coal or other minerals in and underlying the property i
affected by this improvement.

i Finley Township, for delinquent 1937 Road Tax, inasmuch as under date of April 27, 1942, the County

Treasurer certified that there were no unpaid taxes against the above mentioned property. j

Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the County Controller be authorized
Ito advertise for bids for the furnishing and printing of 12,000 or more sets (3 to a set) of
Official Military Ballot Envelopes, and Instructions to Voter in Military Service; such bids to

be received in the Office of the County Controller until 11 o'clock a.m., VfT, Friday, June 16,
11944, and opened immediately thereafter in the office of the County Commissioners; proposal blanks,
together with samples of Envelopes and Instructions to Voter to be furnished upon application
l at the office of the Chief Clerk to the County Corn¢nissioners; a certified check in the star of

1$100.00 to accompany each bid; and the right reserved to reject any or all bids. Motion carried.
