I Joint meeting,of the Board of County Commissioners and County Controller for the
purpose of awarding various contracts in accordance with advertisements of the County Controller,
j those present being,County Commissioners Curanins, Pettit and O'Neil, and County.Controller
Stuart.
Upon request, joint bid of Monongahela Publishing Company and Ward Printing- Company
f'
for printing and delivering to the Office of the County Commissioners the necessary ballots
for the conduct of the General Election to be held November 7, 1944, being the only bid
received, was re -read.
Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by fir. Cummins, that the contract for printing and

i delivering ballots, in accordance with specifications, be awarded to Monongahela Publishing
i Company and Ward Printing Company upon their joint bid as set forth in Minute No. 54, dated
July 21, 1944, covering the printing of ballots by precincts.
Motion carried, with County Controller Stuart present at the time this action was taken.

Bid of Mm. G. Johnston Company for furnishing and delivering supplies required for
+ use of the election officers at the General Election to be held November 7, 1944, being the
only bid received, was re -read.
f Motion by Mr, Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the contract for furnishing
I
election supplies, in accordance with specifications, be awarded to William G. Johnston
i� Company, Pittsburgh, Pa., at their bid price of $1007.3€3.
I ]Notion carried, with County Controller Stuart present at the time this action was
taken.
j Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the proposal of T. M, Bedillion,
! of R. Do , Washington, Pa., for delivery of Ballot Boxes and other election supplies neoess-

i ary for the conduct of the General Election to be held November 7, 19", for the sum of

$299.00, be accepted. Motion carried.
Bids of Monongahela Publishing Company and 'Bard Printing Company for furnishing and
printing supplies for use of the Tax Assessment Department, being the only bids received,
were re -read.
Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the contract for furnishing and

{ printing supplies for use of the Tax Assessment Department, in accordance wi.th'specifications,
be awarded to Ward Printing Company upon their bid as set forth in Minute No. 54, dated
July 21, 1944, it being the lowest and best bid received.
Motion carried, with the County Controller present when this action was taken and
instructed to return the certified check of the unsuccessful bidder.
Bid of Colin W. Myers, 7inleyville, Pa., R. D. -J2, for furnishing and delivering to
the County Whir Grounds at Arden, Pa., approximately 26,648 board feet of rough sawed white
oak lumber for the repair and maintenance of various bridges in: Washington County, being the
only bid received, was re -read.

Notion by Mro Pettit, seconded by Bar. Cummins, that the contract for furnishing aforementioned
lumber be awarded to Colin W. Ayers at his bid price as set forth in Minute No. 55, dated
July 24, 1944.

Motion carried, with the County Controller present when this action was taken.
There being no further business to come before the Joint Meeting at this time, it was ,
ad jexed.

Washington, Pa., September 25, 1944.
Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Mr. Cummins,
Mr. Pettit and Mr. O*Neil.
Notion duly made and seconded that the following Resolution be adopted, to -wit:
M1EREAS, the assessments made and returned by the duly elected
Assessors for the year 1945 of each and every property in Spears Borough,
Twilight Borough, South Strabane Township, Carroll Township, and the Tirst,
Second and Third Wards of the City of Monongahela, subject to taxation for
the corporate purpose of Washington County are, in the opinion of the Board �
of County Commissioners, inequitable, unjust, -not uniform, and are, therefore,
in violation of the requirements of the Act of May 21, 1943 (#254), and i
WHEREAS, by reason thereof, the Board of County Commissioners
j feels aggrieved by the said assessments; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED, that the County of Washington appeal to the
" Washington County Board -of Assessment and Revision of Taxes from the
assessed valuations of the aforesaid properties, in accordance with Section I
706 of the said Act.

There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was
adjourned.
