Cummins, Pettit and O'Neil* In accordance with the Act of Assembly in such cases made and provided, the proposed budget of the County Controller for the year 1944 was presented to the County Commissioners by Deputy County Controller Deatel. Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the proposed budget of the County Controller Iwas accepted by the County Ca=issioners, to be considered in the final adoption of their budget for the year 1944. i i i Where being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. t THE FOREGOING MINUTE READ AND APPROVED Mare 3, 19" ATTESTS ` I I NO. 10 Office of the County Commissioners ? Minute No* 9 was read and approved. f � j Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the following resolution be adopted: WHL?YAS, the Act of May 280 1943 Act No. 333 requires the adoption by the Commonwealth as a state highway of any highway in Washington County -where the County is responsible for the construction and maintenance thereof, if and when the County ? Commissioners thereof consent thereto by proper resolution; and i i WHEREAS, the County Commissioners of Washington County have constructed, re- paired and maintained, jointly with the County Commissioners of Westmoreland County, a County Road together with the Donora Webster bridge forming a part thereof, ex- tending from the intersection of State Legislative Route 247 spur and State Legislative Route 62145, being the intersection of Meldon Avenue and Tenth Street ! in the Borough of Donor&, Washington County, and extending easterly therefrom to the intersection of State Aid Application 143-1 and township road #562 in the Village of Webster in Rostraver Township, Westmoreland County, a distance of 1600 feet, ' more or less, which has been constructed, repaired and maintained at a considerable I W cost to the taxpayers of both Washington and Westmoreland Counties, and WREAS, it appears that the taxpayers of Washington County have been paying an inequitable share of the cost of construction, repair and maintenance of such road i and bridge in relation toother counties of the Commonwealth; and ? WHEREAS, it would be to the advantage of the taxpayers of Washington County and for the best interests of said County to consent to the adoption of the said road and bridge by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, under the Act of Assembly aforesaid; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the duly elected, qualified and acting � I'I County Commissioners of Washington County, Ross R. Cummins, Francis Ee Pettit and John N. O'Neil, in regular meeting, under and by virtue of the Act of May 28, { 1943, do hereby consent to the adoption by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as a state highway of the County Road, together with the Aonora-Webster bridge forming a pant thereof, extending from the intersection of State Legislative Route 247 fspur and State Legislative Route 62145, being the intersection of Meldon Avenue and I I MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA ROSS R. OINEIL, COMMISSIONERS MONONGAHELA PUBLISHINM Tenth Street in the Borough of Donora, Washington County, and extending easterly therefrom to the intersection of State Aid ,Application 143-1 and township road #562 in the Village of Webster in &strayer Township, Westmoreland County, a distance of 1600 feet, more or less, for which road and bridge the County of Washington is responsible, jointly with the County of Westmoreland, for their maintenance and for which no contracts for the improvement thereof have been entered into; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this resolution and consent shall become -effective and binding upon the County of Washington upon adoption of the same or similar re- solution by the County,-Commissioners of Westmoreland County; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that true copies of this resolution be filed in the Office of the Clerk of Courts of Washington County and with the Pennsylvania Department of Highways, as required by the said Act of May 28, 1943. i a Motion carried. I Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that Steve Nemeth, of 224 Barr Street, Canonsburg, Pa., be appointed as elevator operator in the Court house for the year 1944, i r effective February 1st, 1944, covering the period from that date until the first Monday in f January 1945, with the proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty days* notice. l + i Motion carried. 1 There being no further business to come before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. i THE FOREGOING MINUTE READ AM APPROVED: Febe ?, 1944 ( ATTEST: NO. 11 i Office of the County Commissioners Washington, Pa., February 7, 1944 I f i j Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Cummins and Pettit. 1 Minute No. 10 was read and approved. j Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the Controller be authorized to fadvertise for bids for the printing and delivering to the office of the County Commissioners i the necessary ballots for the conduct of the Primary Election to be held Tuesday, April 25, 1944, I according to specifications to be obtained at the office of the Chief Clark to the County Commissioners; also,. for furnishing and delivering to the office of the County Commissioners h supplies to include tally sheets, return sheets, envelopes, numbered lists of voters, Voters Guides, etc., required for use of the election officers at the Primary Election to be held I ' April 25, 1944. Motion carried. yCounty Controller Harvey Stuart was called into the meeting for the purpose of opening 4 bids as per the advertisement of the County Controller for Fleet Insurance for public liability, property damage, fire, theft and collision coverage on truck and automobile equipment and road- building machinery owned and operated by Washington County. j In accordance with the aforementioned advertisement, the following bids were opened and read in the presence of the County Commissioners: i
