Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Mr. Cummins, Mr.
i Pettit and Mr. O'Neil.
Motion duly made and seconded that the rate of pay for Election Board Officers and their
clerks main at $7,50 for the first one hundred votes cast or fraction thereof, and the additional
sum of $1e00 for each one hundred votes or fraction thereof; the Judge of Elections and the Minority'
Inspector each to receive the additional sum of $2.50 for transporting the returns to the county
seat immediately after the count is completed, plus mileage at the rate of 5� per mile, in accordant$
with Act No. 98, Sec. 412, of May 6, 1943; the said rate of 7.50 to apply also to the Constable

on duty at the various polling places in the county, for each primary and each election, effective fdr
the coming Primary to be held Tuesday,. April 25, 1944. Motion carried. j

' Lotion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the resignations of A. To Anderson,
L. E. Linville and M. J. Sweeney as members of Washington County Council of Defense be accepted,
and a letter of appreciation sent to each. Motion: carried. �
Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that Earl C. Kurtz, of Washington, Pa.., i

be appointed a member of Washington County Council of Defense to replace A. T. Anderson, resigned,
and that August Chambon, of Donora, Pa., be appointed as a member of said Counoilta replace
i
M. J, Sweeney, resigned. Motion carried.

Board of County Commissioners in regular session, specially called, those present being
Mr. Cummins, Mr. Pettit and Mr. O'Neil.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the following proposal of Santoni's
Furniture & Salvage Company, of Canonsburg, be accepted for furnishing and installing oarpet in
the rooms occupied by Supreme Court Justice Hughes in Washington Trust Building:

i "I hereby bid to furnish and install Mohawk Cabinett Carpet with 32 oz. Denafelt
_padding in two rooms at the Washington Trust Building at Washington, Pa,, for the
total sum of $347.50. The carpet is subject to arrival from the factory, and
will be installed as soon as possible."

Motion duly made and seconded that the following resolution be adopted. -
BE IT RMLMO by the County Commissioners of Washington County that the plans
submitted by the Department of Highways for the changing of State Highway Route
62138, between Stations 114/75 and 12V55.50, in Morris Township, have been
examined and the County Commissioners agree that the County will not assume
liability for any property damages resulting from the construction of the highway
as contemplated by these plans, or any damages arising out of any changes or
alteration of drainage resulting from the construction or maintenance of the
highways, or &4 damages resulting to any property or holdings of any Public
Utility Company; or any and all damage resulting to any coal or other minerals
in and underlying the property affected by this improvement.
Motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the Chief Clerk be authorized to place
an order with The Addressograph-Multigraph Company for one 1995 flax and Registration Addresso-
'graph, for the sum of 1935#80, in accordance with the lax and Certificate of liar Production
Board.
Motion carried.
There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was
jadjourned.
