Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the salaries of employees in the
Office of the Board of Assessment and Revision of Taxes in the respective positions set forth be
fixed as follows for the year 1944, covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1944,

The Salary Board of the County of Vtashington, having to do with the fixing_ of salaries of
employees coming under the jurisdiction of the County Commissioners, met in the Office of the County;
Commissioners on Thursday, January 13, 1944, with the following members present: County Commission�a
Cummins, Pettit, and O'liei.l; and County Controller Stuart. I

Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that the following rates of pay be es-
tablished in the Engineers and Bridge Departments for the year 1944, covering the period from the
first Monday in January, 1944, to the first Monday in January, 1945:
Transit Men
Chain Men
Operators
Foremen
Skilled Labor
Semi -Skilled Labor
Common Labor -
Inspectors
Motion carried.

Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that all persons employed as extra Court
Clerks by the Prothonotary and Clerk of Courts be paid at the rate of 04.00 per day; that persons
employed as extra clerical help, having ninety days' experience, be paid at the rate of $4.00 per
day, provided that the official holding said office in which such clerical help is employed,
shall first certify to the County Controller that such extra clerical help has had at least ninety
days' experience in that office; that all other clerical help be paid at the rate of $3.50 per day;
and that substitute cleaners be paid at the rate of $2.25 per day; all of the foregoing rates to be
Ieffective for the time actually employed in the respective capacities for the year 1944, covering

the period from the first Monday in January, 1944, to the first Monday in January, 1945.

L,btion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by fir. Pettit, that all persons employed as laborers
on the Court :douse Cleaning Force be paid at the rate of 60 cents per hour. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Pettit, that payment for mileage at the present
time in connection with County business be fixed at the rate of 8 cents per mile for the actual
number of miles traveled and remain at that rate as long as present conditions exist.

There being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting
was adjourned.

Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that Martin Nugent, Assistant Engineer,
be paid at the rate of $150.00 per month for the period from January 3rd to January 9th,
i inclusive, 1944; and that Louis Comer, Night Building Superintendent, be paid at the rate of
$125.00 per month for the period from January 3rd to January 9th, inclusive, 1944.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Pettit, seconded by Mr. Cummins, that the salaries of the persons named
below, employed by the County Commissioners in the respective capacities set forth below, be
fixed as follows for the year 1944, effective January 16, 1944, and covering the period from
that date until the first Monday in January, 1945:
