Washington, Pa., March 25, 1940.
Board of County Commissioners in joint session with the County Controller for the purpose
of opening bids for the printing and delivering to the Office of the County Commissioners,
approximately 95,000 Official Ballots, approximately 25,000 Official Specimen Ballots, and
2,000 Candidates' Specimen Ballots; also bids for supplying tally sheets, return sheets,
envelopes, numbered lists of voters, Voter's Guides, etc., etc., -for use at the Primary Election
to be held April 23, 1940 as per advertisement of the County Controller, and to award the con-
tract for the delivery of ballots, ballot boxes and necessary election supplies for use of the
Election Officers at the Primary, April 23, 1940; present for County Commissioners, Messrs.
Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil; County Controller J. K. Smith.
In connection with -the above, the following bids were opened and read in the presence of
the County Commissioners:
Joint bid of the Monongahela Publishing; Company, Monongahela, Pa., and the 'hard
Printing Company, Washington, Pa., for approximately 95,000 Official Ballots,
259000 Official Specimen Ballots and 2,000 Candidates' Specimen Ballots for use
at the Primary, April 23, I940....................................... $3265000
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that the contract for the necessary ballots
' for use at the Primary, April 23, 1940, be awarded jointly to the Monongahela Publishing Co.,
and the Ward Printing Company at their bid price of $3265,00. Motion carried.
WILLIAM G. JOHNSTON COMPANY, Pittsburgh, Pa.
188 sets of supplies for the Primary Election with the necessary Computing
Books and Voter's Guides for the sum of.... 751.79
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that the contract for the necessary election
supplies, packed in 188 boxes, for use at the Primary to be held April 23, 1940, be awarded to
the William G. Johnston Company, Pittsburgh, Pa., at their bid price of $751,79, Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that the contract for the delivery of the
ballots, ballot boxes and all necessary election supplies for use of the Election Officers at
the Primary, April 23, 1940, be awarded to T. M. Bedillion, Washington, R.Ii.#4, at his bid of
$275.00. Motion carried.
There being no further business beeore the meeting, it was adjourned.
