Cummins and O'Neil, Mrs Berryman being unable to attend. I i ! Motion duly made and seconded that the County Commissioners co-operate with the School ` i District and Borough Council of Burgettstoby accepting the face of the 1934 county tax liened i against Js Fe Evans, plus the costs, in full staisfaction of the said taxes, without penally and interest, and that the County Treasurer be notified of this action of the Board of County Commissioners. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned, THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: May 3, 1940 AT -EST: 'x NO. 71 Office of the County Commissioners, Washington, Pas, May 3, 1940s Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neile Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that a bookkeeper be appointed to keep the books and accounts for the County Commissioners. Remarks were called for bythe Chairman in this connection and Mr. O'Neil offered the following: "I have no objection to the creation of the position of bookkeeper, provided that such duties ,which may be assigned to the position are properly designated and directed and that the work done by such bookkeeper shall prove economies in the different departments by reason of this work. It is my personal opinion that a bookkeeper under the direction of the County Commissioners can be of valuable assistance, not only to the Commissioners but to all of thectIpartments of the County Government working under the Budget Act (No. 386, Approved July 18, 1935)." There being no further remarks on the subject, the motion was declared carried, with Mrs O'Neil not voting. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Wilber W. Croner, Donora, Pa., be ap- pointed as bookkeeper for the County Commissioners, such appointment to become effective May 60 1940, with proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice. Motion carried, with Mrs O'Neil not voting. L 1 1
