County Commissioners in regular session, specially called, those present being Messrs.
man, Cummins and O'Neil.
Motion duly made and seconded that payment in the amount of $150.00 be approved in favor
of Andrew J, & Mary G. Baxter, covering damages to their property situated on State Highway
Route 181A1 in Carroll Township, and that payment in the'amount of 200.00 be approved in
favor of Christina Baxter, representing damages to her property in connection with the con-
struction of the said State Highway Route 181R1, Carroll Township, Motion carried.
Upon petition duly presented, the Polling Place in the 8th Ward of the City of Washington
was changed from the Playgrounds Association Building at the Corner of Broad Street and Baird
Avenue, to a Room in the 8th Ward School Building, Corner MoCarrell Avenue and Addison Street.
The E, M. Lheureau Agency, Cecil., Pennsylvania, having delivered a compensation insurance
policy with the Continental Casualty Company, Chicago, Ill., covering all county employees,
same was thereupon approved and accepted, effective October 20, 1940, expiring one year from
that date, the said Continental Casualty Company being authorized to operate under the laws of
the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
The County Solicitor, having reported to the Board that the Bill of Complaint filed by
James McGugin and Robert R. Reed in 8onnection with the awarding of the contract to the Northern
Bituminous Corporation for the improvement of the Claysville-Burnsville Road hod been taken up
by him with the contractor and his attorney who advised that notwithstanding the Bill of Com-
plaint, they considered the contract as legal and binding and would perform the contract in
accordance with the terms thereof, the *solicitor advised the Board to file an answer, denying
the illegality set forth in the Bill of Complaint, making some effort to have the Court advance
the hearing thereon.
Motion duly made and seconded that the County Solicitor be authorized to prepare the neces-
sary contract with Hultman Brothers, Carnegie, Pa., for the restoration of such number of the
seventy volumes included in the advertisement of the County Controller that, in the opinion of
the Recorder of Deeds and County Commissioners, necessitate and require the restoring of these
records by the Campbell Process, such work to be done at the Hultman Brothers bid price of
.175.00 per volume, Motion carried.
There being no further business before the meeting, it was adjourned,
