O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS n 1 1 NO. 77 Office of the County Commissioners, Washington, Pa., May 13, 1940. County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil, The reading of Minute No. 71 on May 6, 1940, was confirmed by the Board, Minutes No. 72-72A-74-75 were read and approved by the Board, with Minutes No. 73 and 76 to be revised and read at the next regular meeting. Salary Board Minute No. 27, fixing the salary of the newly appointed bookkeeper for the County Commissioners, was read and Mr. O'Neil voiced objection to this action of the Board. There being no further business before the meeting, it was adjourned. THE FOREGOING MINUTE; READ AND APPROVED: May 20, 1940 ATTEST: 1��.�ZX�. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil. Motion duly made and seconded that the Agreement submitted by the Equitable Gas Company, Pittsburgh, Pa., dated May 9, 1940, providing for the relocation of their facilities due to the reconstruction of S.H.R. 62048 and 62050 in Fallowfield Township, at a cost not to exceed 275.00, be accepted and executed. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. Motion duly made and seconded that for the months of June, July and August, office hours in the County Commissioners' Office be observed from 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M., daily, except Saturday when office hours will be from 8:30 A.M. until 12 M. O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS The reading of Minutes Nos. 73 & 76, which had been revised, and the reading of Minute No. 77, on May 20, 1940, was confirmed by the Board; minute No. 78 was read and approved ty the Board, Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board stood adjourned to meet later in the day to finally adopt the County Budget for the year 1940, THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: May 29, 1940 ATTEST: NO, 80 Office of the County Commissioners, Washington, Pa., May 29, 1940. Board of County Commissioners in adjourned session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the budget for the General Fund of the County of Washington for the fiscal year 1940, be finally adopted by the County Commissioners, the said budget having been available for public inspection in the Office of the Chief Clerk of the Commissioners from May 8, 1940, to May 29, 1940, in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly of July 18, 1935, and that the rate of taxation upon the valuation of properties of the County of Washington, in order to raise sufficient revenues to meet required expenditures for the f2oal year 1940, be fixed at six and one-half (62) mills, which will make the payment of taxes in the amount of sixty-five (65�) cents upon each 100 of assessed valuation of real estate and occupation. In connection with the foregoing motion, the following remarks were offered by Mr. O'Neil: "It is my opinion, based upon figures previously presented by me, that the IW;ibudget and the tax levy for general purposes could have been Xaintained at six mills by a careful administration of funds coming under the control of every department and requiring a unffied effort to in every way economize without affecting the efficient operation of the functions of county government." Question called for: '7bting "Yes", Messrs. Berryman and Cummins; voting "No", Mr. O'Neil and wishing his vote so recorded. This being a majority, the motion was declared carried. Minute No. 79 was read and approved by the Board. There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: June 3, 1940 ATTEST: 1 [1 1
