O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS 1 I1 1 C NO. 81 Office of the County Commissioners, Washington, Pa., May 31, 1940, Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cum - rains and O'Neil. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Commissioners oonflcrm their action in accepting compromise payments by abating penalty and interest of liandd and delinquent county taxes in oo- operation with the School District and Road Supervisors of Cecil Township, on properties assessed in the following names: Paul Ciaffoni Concetta Ciaffoni Pete Tropino John Grillo Yasemer Matukevich John Debnar F6tro Ciaffoni Steve Swednovich Alice Delval Estate Panfilio Conosciuto George Deliere Prank Deccorso Lotion carried, and County Treasurer to be notified of this action of the Board. There being no further business before the meeting, it was adjourned. THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: June 3, 1940 ATTEST: NO, 82 Office of the County Commissioners, Washington, Pa., June 3, 1940. Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the County Controller be authorized to advertise for one Ford Track, Cab over Engine design having 134 inch wheel base, 95 horse* - power engine, and platform body, helper springs, 32x6 ten ply heavy duty dual tires, rear, and 7:OOx20 tires, front, for use of the County Road Department, with allowance for trade-in of one 1935 one and one-half ton Dodge Truck Chasigis, Model KH-31; certified check in the amount of $100 must accompany each bid which will be received by the County Controller until 11:00 A.M, Eastern Standard Time, June 17, 1940, and the right is reserved to reject any or all bids. Motion carried, with Mr. O'Neil voting "No". Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that George C. Miller, Claysville, Pa., be recommended as Foreman on the WPA Bridge 'Painting Project coming under the County -wide Project, W.P. 23730 - Unit F - O.P. 65-1-23-726 and that Ralph N. Lincoln, WPA Project Engineer , be advised of this recommendation. MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA JOHN D. BERRYMAN, ROSS R. CUMMINS, JOHN N. O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS Question called for: Voting "Yes", Messrs. Berryman and Cummins, voting "No", Mr. O'Neil, because of his not being familiar with Mr. Miller's qualifications and past construction record, This being a majority, the motion was declared carried. i Minutes No. 80 & 81 were read and approved by the Board. Mr. O'Neil called attention to the Act of 1939 - P.L. 507-508, relating to real property pur- chased by the County Commissioners at County Treasurer's Tax Sales, particularly Section 16, sub- s i section (c), beginning "Such property shall not, so long as it remains the property of the county i be charged in the duplicate, etc., etc.". After discussion of the provisions of the Act governing such matters, the Board directed that I immediately upon the approval of the Court, that all records in the County Commissioners' Office I relating to those properties sold at Treasurer's Tax Sale, be corrected and revised, proper notation to be made of their sale to Washington County, the assessors in the various districts to be notified i I of the transfer of the properties to the County by reason of the Tax Sale. i I There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned, I i THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: i June 10, 1940 i ATTEST: ; I--------------- E NO. 83 Office of the County Commissioners, i i Washington,, Pa., June 10, 1940. i I j County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil. Upon petition duly presented to the Board, f"J. R. Nease was named as Assessor in and for the 1st Ward of the City of Washington to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Harry Williams, i regularly elected assessor therein. The matter of the various -resolutions of county organizations in connection with a proposed Traveling Library, which have been presented to the Board of Commissioners, was discussed and the Board directed that a letter go forward to each organization from whom a resolution was received, advising that the County Commissioners did not feel justified in making provision in the 1940 budget for the proposed traveling library, due to present financial conditions, j Minute No. 82 was read and approved by the Board, Motion was duly made, seconded and carried to authorize the County Treasurer to accept de- linquent county tax for the year 1936, against the Martin Burns Estate, Smith Township, at face, without penal�;y and interest, and that the County Treasurer be given an excerpt of this munute, There being no further business before the meeting, it was adjourned.
