In the absence of a quorum, the bids were ordered tabulated and action deferred until the next regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners on Monday, February 10, 1941, There being no further business before this meeting, it was adjourned. Board of County Commissioners in joint session with -,,the County Controller for the purpose of opening bids for the furnishing of one 1941 Chevrolet Master DeLuxe Club Sedan for use of the County Detectives, with trade-in allowance for one 1940 Nash four -door sedan, less siren and spot light which are to be transferred to the new Chevrolet; those present at the meeting being County Commissioners Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil and County Controller Smith. In accordance with the advertisement of the County Controller, the following bid was opened and read in the presence of the County Commissioners: MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA JOHN D. BERRYMAN, ROSS R. CUMMINS, JOHN N. O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS SCOTT MOTOR COMPANY, Washington, Pa. New 1941 Chevrolet Master Deluxe 4-door Sedan with trunk, equipped with Standard factory equipment, Dual Horns, Huol Windshield Wipers, Spare Tire & Tube, as follows: Price of Car $822.25 Less allowance on 1940 Nash Sedan 552,25 Total Delivered Price $270 00 tax Upon completion of proper/exemption papers, there will be deducted $21.75 due Washington County, which will result in a net difference of $$248,25. Siren and spot light to be removed and installed free of charge to new car. Lotion duly made and seconded that the contract for the 1941 Chevrolet Master Deluxe Club Sedan for use of the County Detectives, be awarded to the Scott Motor Company, Washington, Pa., at their net bid of $248.25, said company to be authorized to furnish and install in this car underseat heater and direct unit double defrosters for the sum of $19.85. Motion carried. Mere being no further business before the joint meeting, it was adjourned. Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, CumI.ins and O'Neil. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Yr. O'Neil, that the contract for one hundred six tons, more or less, of plain structural steel to be used in the construction of eight county bridges be awarded to the O'Brien Steel Construction Company, Washington, Pa., for the sum of $6,757.36, plus the sum of $16.90 to cover the cost of proper bond for the faithful performance of the contract, in accordance with their bid opened and read -,in the County Commissioners' Office on Friday, February 7, 1941. Motion carried. After discussion of the bids received and opened on Friday, February 7, 1941, for Fleet Insurance for public liability, property damage, fire and theft coverage on truck and automobile f equipment and road building machinery owned and operated by Washington County, the awarding of I i the contract was deferred until a further study of the bids has been made. In further reference to the matter of the bids for Fleet Insurance, Chairman Berryman pre- sented the following letter to the Board which was received by him from the American Casualty Company, Reading, Pennsylvania, in connection with the bid of George H.
