Berryman, Cutmmins I and O'Neil" j Upon petition presented to the Board, Mrs. Dorothy C. Boyd was duly appointed as "Tax Collector in SmitliTownship to fill the vacancy caused by the death of R. B. Boyd, regularly elected Tax Col- lector therein, such appointment to cover the unexpired term of the said R. Mo Boyd* Motion duly made and seconded that the Agreement with the Western Union Telegraph Compares, Westmoreland County and Washington County be finally approved as executed by the said Ccm><pamy on June S, 1941, and by the Boards of County Commissioners of Washington and Westmoreland Counties on July 2, 1941 and July 11, 1941, respectively, such Agreement to cover the attachment of a wire to the Donors Webster Bridge at a yearly rental of 412.50 to each of the said counties by the afore- mentioned Western Union Telegraph Comfy for the period beginning June 1, 1941 and terminating ft 31, 1942* Motion carried. Minute Ro* 217 was read and approved by the Board. Berryman and Cummins, Mr. OtNeil being absent* Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel the tax sale of April 26, 1940, in the name of Clara (Carl) White, in the Borough of Borth Charleroi, for de- linquent taxes for the years 1931-32-33-34-36, against property described as "House and ground, south end of Borough", such property have been previously sold at Sheriff's .Sale on February 5, 1937s and the said delinquent taxes having been certified by the County Treasurer to the Sheriff and this amount included in the Sheriff's Sale but the lien dockets in both the Treasurer's and the Prothonotary's Offices were not properly credited; at the same time, the assessment was carried in Fhllawfiled Township, thereby effecting a duplicate assessment, therefore, the proper clerks are hereby requested to credit the receipt of the said delinquent taxes in North Charleroi Borough thro, the Sheriff's Sale and correct the assessment records in the Commissioners' Office in order to slim sate the said duplicate assessment in Fallowfield Township, the aforementioned property to be asses ad in the Borough of North Charleroi* Motion carried. 1 1 1 . COMMISSIONERS 1 1 11 1 Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to oancel'tax sale of January 22, 1940, in the name of Albert Brandenburg in Cecil Township, for the 1928 County and School Taxes against property described as Lot, Adjacent Rogers & Giffin, Boreland Plan, in view -of the fact that such lot was sold as the property of Washington County, asquired at the 1928 Trel`surer's Tax Sale, but subsequently sold to Fannie Chabassol who assumed the payment of the doXingtent tax responsibility. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel the t§Lx sale in the name of George Temple, Cross Creek Township,, under date of April 24, 1940, for the non-payment of 1931 County tax against property described as 184 aores,Surfaoe, adjacent Margaret Caldwell and Middletoul Coal Compmy, said property having been previously sold at Sheriff's Sale No. 43 May Term 1932, E.D. and such unpaid 194 County tax was not certified by the County Treas - urer to the Sheriff with other unpaid taxes, it appearing that an amount sufficient to pay the said 1961 County tax was paid at the time of the said sale and would have been collected had the same been properly certified. Motion carried. Minute No. 218 was read and approved by the Board. August 4, 1941, Washington, Penna. Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cuamains and O'Neil* Motion duly made and seconded that the County Controller be authorized to advertise for sealed proposals for the furnishing and placing of approximately fifty tons of Bituminous Binder Course and approximately 1240 sq, yds. of Mixed -in -place Bituminous Surface Course on the Pike Run Road in East Pike Run Township, Washington County; such proposals to be received by the County Controller in his office until 10 o'clock, E.S.T., August 15, 1941, and opened immediately thereafter in the Uffice of the County Coumissioners; proposal blanks and specifications may be obtained in the Eagineer's uffioe, certified check in the amount of $150.00 must a000mpsmy each bid and the right is reserved to reject arty or all bids, or to make such as award as will' be to the best interests of Washington County Motion carried* There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.
