Berryman, Ross Re Cummins and John No O*Neile
Zhe organization of the Board of County Commissioners effected on the first Monday of January,
1940, oontbued in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly of 1929 (County Code), to -
wits John D. Berryman, Chairman of the Board, and Ross Re Cummins, Secretary.
I First in the order of business was the confirmation of the appointment of T. C. Hickson, Chief
Clerk to the County Commissioners, David He Weiner, County Solicitor, and David Re Davidson, Sealer
i of Weights &.Measures, for the year 1942, each of the foregoing appointments having been made the �

jfirst Monday in January, 1940, for a four-year period*
Motion by Mr* Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the following persons be employed in the
Office of the County Commissioners in the respective capacities set forth for the year 1942, cover-
ing the period from the fift Monday in January, 1942, to the first Monday in January, 1943, with j
proviso that each may be dismissed upon Ythirty days' notices

in January, 1943, with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty days* notices

j Illation by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Joseph Bannister bo. appointed as eleva-
tor operator in the Court House for the year 1942, covering the period from the first Monday in
January, 1942, to the first Monday in January, 1943, with proviso that he may be dismissed upon

thirty days' notice, such appointment to be effective upon the return of the said Joseph Bannister
from service with the 3rd Regiment, He Company, P.R.D.Co and pending his ran, Ruth N. Bannister
is hereby appointed as elevator operator. Motion carriedg with Mr. O'Neil not voting.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by MrQr. Berryman, that the following employees in the Regis-
tration Office be reappointed for the year 1942, covering the period from the first Monday in
January, 1942, to the first Monday in January, 19430 with proviso that each may be dismissed upon
thirty days' notices

Motion carried, with Mr. O'Neil not voting, and action in the matter of the appointment of a
Secretary to replace Marion Popovioh, resigned, being deferred until a later date; notation of the
foregoing appointments in the Registration Office to be made on the minutes of record in that Office.
Motion by Mre Curaadris, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the following employees in the Road and
Bridge Department be reappointed for the year 1942, covering the period from the first Monday is
January, 1942, to the first Monday of January, 1943s in the respective capacities set forth below
with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty.days' notices

Motion carried, with Mr. O'Neil not voting, and action in the matter of filling the vacancy
caused by the resignation of Dushan Nieksiek as Inspector of aouttywide WPA Projects, deferral
until a later date.
Notion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Joseph Warne be reappointed as Veterans'
Graves Registrar for the year 1942, covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1942,
to the first Monday in January, 1943s with proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty days'
notice. Motion carrieda with Mre O'Neil not voting.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Minnie E. Hemphill, West Middletown,
Pa., be named as Matron at the Detention Home, and Margaret Ae Hemphill, as Assistant Matron, for
the year 1942, both appointments to cover the period from the first Monday in January, 1942s until
the first Monday in January, 1943s with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty days'
notice. Lotion carried, with Mr. OtNeil not voting.
%ere being no further business to come before the Board at this time, the meeting was ad-
journed.
