Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mre Berryman, that Margaret Jenkins, 11891 Arch Street,
Washington, Pa., be appointed as cleaner in the Court House to fill the vacancy caused by the ap-
pointment of Lula Henry, fbrmer cleaner, as Matron at the Juvenile Detention Home; the appointment
of Margaret Jenkins to be effective as of this date, March 16, 1942, to cover the period until the
first Monday in January, 1943, with proviso that she may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice.
Motion carried,
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Anthony Note be appointed as Voucher Clem
in the County Commissioners' Office to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John D. Woodwar+
due to his induction into the United States Army, the appointment of Mr. Note as Voucher Clerk to belll
effective as of march 121, 194210 to cover the period until the first Monday in January, 1943, with
proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice, he being hereby authorized to attest the
signatures of the County Commissioners on Commissioners' warrants drawn on the County Treasurer.
Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Peter Lee, Charleroi, Pa., be appointed
as Clerk in the County Commissioners' Office to fill the vacancy caused by the appointment of Anthon�

! Note, former clerk, as Voucher Clerk, such appointment to be effective as of March 12, 1942, to cove
j the period until the first Monday in January, 1943, with proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty
days* notice. Motion carried.
Minute No. 277 was read and approved by the Board.
There being no further business to come before the regular meeting, it was adjourned so that
the Board could meet in joint session with the County Controller to open bids for surface treatment
of various county roads.

opening bids for the surface treatment of various county roads as per advertisement of the County
Controller; present for CountyCommissioners, Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil; County Controller
Stuart present.
In accordance with the aforementioned advertisement, the following bids were opened and read
in the presence of the CountyCommissioners:

Board of County Commissioners in regular session, specially called, those present being
Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O*Neil; County Controller Stuart also present.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the contract for the construction of
Van Voorhis Bridge, Pigeon Creek -#3, in Monongahela City and Carroll Tov+mship, be awarded to Ed-
ward Kean, 4923 Rosetta St., Pittsburgh, Pa., at his bid price of $9,562.50 submitted under date
of February 20, 1942, in accordance with the advertisement of the County Controller. Motion carri-
ed, with the County Controller present at the time of the awarding of this contract, he being
hereby duly authorized to return the certified checks of the unsuccessful bidders.
Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the contract for the construction of
FoxBIidge, Pigeon Creek +130 Fallowfield Township, be awarded to Charles Balazick, Jefferson, Pa.,
at his bid price of $7,145o52 submitted under date of February 20, 1942, in accordance with the
advertisement of the County Controller. Motion carried, with the County Controller present at the
time of the awarding of this contract, he being hereby duly authorized to return the certified
cheokssof the ,unsuccessful bidders.
