O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Joseph Batove, Cross Creek Township, be appointed as Field Clerk in the Washington County Real Estate Department for the year 1942, such appointment to be effective as of June 2, 1942, and to cover the period from that date until the first Monday in January[, 1943, with proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice. Motion carried, WHEREAS, There has be% filed with the County Commissioners a bond in the amount of $1000.00 by the Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation, Pittsburgh, Pa., Whereby the said Corporation guarantees the payment of all fees for services rendered by any fee office of Washington County; now, there- fore, Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the granting of arq credit for any fees under the provisions of the said bond, the Chief Clerk being hereby directed to place the bond on file with the County Controller. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the payment of the sum of $550.00 in favor of John & Susan Majoros, in accordance with the agreement for the payment of damages on State Highway Route No. 62052 in Somerset Township, filed and advertised at No. 154 May Term, 1942, to which no exceptions have been filed. Motion carried. There being no further business before the meeting, it was adjourned. Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil. Motion duly made and seconded 1that approval be given to the execution of the agreement on June 17, 1942, between Washington County and the Equitable Gas Company, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania , covering the construction of a 3" gas line for the purpose of carrying gas for a distance of 80 feet, more or less, across the County Bridge in the Borough of Bentleyville, crossing Pigeon Creek on Church Street. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the following Resolution be adopted, to -wit: RESOLVED, That the County Solicitor be and hereby is authorized and directed to enter satis- faction on the records in the Prothonotary's Office of all claims and liens for county taxes filed therein against the Piedmont Coal Co, for the years 1920-1936 ino. so far as the said liens relate to the interest of the Piedmont Coal Co. in tracts'of coal situate in .Amwell, Morris, North Franklin, South Franklin, South Strabane and South Strabane Townships, and tract of Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, land containing 146 except tax claims acres, situatein or liens for County and School Taxes for the year 1932 and County, School, and Township Taxes levied subsequent to 1952 against the undivided interest of the Piedmont Coal Company in what is known as the Ulery Block of 671 acres and the Ulery-Andrews Block of 425 acres, situate in South Franklin Township. I i Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil. Upon petition duly presented, motion was made and seconded that Clarence J. Shepherd, 40 LeMoyn6 Avenue, Washington, Pennsylvania, be appointed as Assessor in and for the Borough of East Washington i to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Shirley McBurney, regularly elected Assessor therein. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel the Treasurer's Tax Sale of 1940 in the name of Leo Wassil, Test Bethlehem Township, for delinquent taxes for the I years 1929-31-32-33-34 against Lot 62 Donora Improvement Company Plan, in view of the fact that the j said Leo Wassil rightfully owned Lot 62 in the Washington Investment Company Plan in West Bethlehem j Township' and Lot 62 Donora Improvement Company Plan had been previously sold at the 1918 County Treasurer's Tax Sale as the property of Joe Plenehaitis and subsequently sold by Washington County to Sophia Buenell on May 12, 1941; and that the assessment records be corrected accordingly. Motion j carried* Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel the Treasurer's Tax Sale of 1918 in the name of Jane Bane, Nest Bethlehem Township, for delinquent taxes for the ! years 1916-17, against Lot No. 119 in the Gayman Plan in said township, such assessment for the said years being a duplication with the assessment of M. E. Dotts in West Bethlehem Township, Rdtion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel the Treasurer's Tax Sale of 1928 in the name of Ross Leonard, West Bethlehem Township, for delinquent taxes for the years 1926-27, against Lot No. 118, Gayman Plan, in said township, such assessment for the said years being a duplication with the assessment of J. B. Burris, in West Bethlehem Township. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that all employees of Washington County, coming within the pro- visions of the Act of June 7, 1917, P.L. 600, as amended, shall be entitled to all the rights and privileges set forth in the said Act of Assembly, as amended, but subject to the limitations and conditions set forth in the amendments thereto of June 25, 1941, P.L. 207 and of April 21, 1942, P.L. provided that all such employees and dependents entitled to such benefits eomply with the following conditions: r L 1 1 40
