O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS NO, 272 Office of the County Commissioners, Washington, Pa., February 27, 1942. i ! ! I Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman and Cummins, Mr. O'Neil being absent from the county. I Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the County Controller be authorized to advertise for bids for the surface treating of various county roads, requiring the applioa- tion of approximately 96,500 gallons of tar and approximately 2950 tons of limestone chips or 2700 tons of slag chips; such bids to be received by the County Controller at his office in the Court House until 11:00 A.M., E.W.T.,, March 16, 1942, and opened immediately thereafter in the Office of the County Conn.issioners; specifications and proposal blanks may be obtained at the County Engineering Department in the Court House and a certified check in the amount of five ' I hundred dollars must accompany each bid, the right being reserved to reject any or all bids to make such an award as is deemed to be to best interests of Washington County. Motion carried. i Motion duly madd and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept payment of delinquent county taxes in the name of Clyde O'Brien, Union Township, without penalty and interest, -such action being taken in cooperation with the Township Supervisors and School Board of said township who have taken like action in the acceptance of delinquent taxes against the said property in their respective taxing capacities. Motion carried. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil: The following Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Washington, State of Pennsylvania, relative to the issue by the said county of a note for Fifty Thousand, (3500000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and adopted by said Board, to -Witt WHEREAS, It has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum of Fifty Thousand ($50,000.00) Dollars for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the year 1942, and to be I payable out of taxes and other current revenues which have been assessed and are to be levied iand collected by the county during the year 1942, now, therefore, MINUTE BOOK E30ARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA JOHN D. O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS -- _- -12 99 WARD PRINTING CO 72328 _ BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of County Commissioners of the said County of Washington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the county, the proper officials of the said county are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate a temporary loan on such tetras as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which are to be levied and collected duri.n; the year 1942, and so much of said taxes as xW be necessary to repay said loan, with inter- est*, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose, and issue a note therefor, payable August 5, 1942, with interest from date of said note at the rate of one and one-half {1 ) per cent. per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay, said note to be negotiated and issued as followsc THE WASHINGTON UNION TRUST COMPANY, Washington, Pa. 50,000.00 There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. i THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED. - March 6, 1942 ATTESTS JI&a9'0--� jNO."274 Office of the County Commissioners, i Washington, Pa., March 6, 1942. Berryman, Cummins M and O'Neil. i Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept liened and der, linquent county tax for the year 1930 against the property of W, P. Landman in the Borough of Centerville without penalty and interests such action being taken in cooperation with the Borough Council and School District of Centerville Borough. Motion carried. I Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept liened and delinquent county tax for the year 1933 against the property of Hudson Guthrie in Bentleyville Borouga without penalty and interest, such action being taken in cooperation with the Borough Council and School District of Bentleyville B6rough. Motion carried. ' Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept the final payment on liened and delinquent county taxes for the years 1931.32-33 against property assessed j in the name of Walter Mitchell Estate in the Borough of Bentleyville, without penalty and interest, i inasmuch as the said delinquent taxes were being paid under the provisions of Act No. 83 and the I j final payment on the county taxes was inadvertently omitted when complete settlement of other de- linquent taxes was made. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept the balance i due on liened and delinquent county taxes for the year 1933 in the name of Bessie Dias, in the Borough of California, without penalty and interest, inasmuch as the said delinquent tax was being paid under the provisions of an abatement act and the balance due was inadvertently omitted when complete settlement of other delinquent taxes was made. Motion carried. Motion duly.made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to aooept the balance due on liened and delinquent county taxes for the years 1927 to 1933 inclusive in the name of the Hugh Thompson Estate in Jefferson Township, without penalty and interest, inasmuch as the balance due was inadvertently omitted when payment was made of other delinquent taxes under the provisions 1 1 1 1 j of Act No, 233.
