COMMISSIONERS i L Motion duly made and seconded that an Agreement be executed between Washington County and the Manufacturers Light & Heat Company, Pittsburgh, Pa., covering the laying of a 10" high pressure pipe line for the purpose of carrying gas under the County road in Donegal Township from the Cleysville Borough line for a distance of 66 feet, more or less. Motion carried. There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil* The following Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners of the County of Washington, State of Pennsylvania, relative to the issue by the said county of a note for One Hundred Thousand 0100,000.00) Dollars as a temporary loan, was presented, duly seconded and adopted by said Board, to -wit: WHEREAS It has become necessary for said Board to borrow the sum of One Hundred Thousand ( 100,000.00� Dollars for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the year 1942, and to be payable out pf.taxes and other current revenues which have been assessed and levied and are to be collected by the county during the year 1942, now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED, By the Board of County Commissioners of the said County of Washington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the payment of current expenses of the county, the proper officials of the said county are hereby authorized and directed to negotiate a temporary loan on such terms as may be agreed upon by them, payable out of taxes which have been levied and are to be collected during the year 1942, and so much of said taxes as may be necessary to repay; said loan, with interest, is hereby set aside and designated for that purpose, and issue a note there- for, payable August b, 1942, with interest from date of said note at the rate of one and one-half (12) per cent. per annum, free of all taxes levied by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, which said taxes the County of Washington assumes and agrees to pay, said note to be negotiated and issued as follows: THE WASHINGTON UNION TRUST COMPANY, Washington, Pa. 1009000r00 There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned* THE FOREGOING MINUTES READ AND APPROVED: may 11 1942. O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS 12 3 WARD PRINTING CU. 7_r3'I8 WHEREAS, There has been filed with the Board of County Commissioners a certified copy of the I record at the said number and term, showing that the said annexation was, on April 17, 1942, approved by the State Council of Education of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; now, therefore, I i I Motion is hereby duly made and seconded that the said portion of South Strabane Township so an— nexed be considered a part of the Borough of East Washington for all purposes and the tax collector I i of said South Strabane Township notified that he is no longer responsible for the collection of tare- owing on those properties included in the territory so annexed and that the tax collector for East Washington Borough be notified of his liability and responsibility for the collection of the taxes in question. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that Mrs. Bessie T. Loudon be appointed as Assescor for the 2nd Ward of the Borough of Canonsburg to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mildred i i A. Rankin, regularly elected assessor therein. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that approval be given to the execution of Releases of Damages in i connection with the construction of the Claysville-Burnsville Road, as set forth below and as such I executed releases remain on file in the Office of the Washington County Engineering Department: E (1) Between Washington County and Z. C. Brownlee, Donegal Township covering any damages to his property in connection with the construction of the said Claysville-Burnsville Road in said township. (2) Between Washington County and R. L. and Margrette Burns, East Finley Township, covering damages to their property in connection with the construction of the said Claysville-Burnsville Road in said township. (S) Between Washington County and Frank Knox, Jr., Donegal Township, covering damages to his i property in connection with the construction of the said Claysville-Burnsville Road in said township„ (4) Between Washington County and Clyde M, Knox, East Finley Township, covering damages to his d property in connection with the construction of the said Claysville-Burnsville Road in said township„ I (5) Between Washington County and Ed. C. Moser, Harry P. and Florence D. Riggs, Donegal Township, covering damages to their property in connection with the construction of the said Claysville-Burnsville 1 Road in said Township,, I j (6) Between Washington County and John 0, Moser, Donegal Township, covering damages to his property in connection with the construction of the said Claysville-Burnsville Road in said township. Post, East Finley and Donegal Township, covering dam- ages to his property in connection with the ecustruetion of the'said Claysville-Burnsville Road in said townships. Motion carried. d The Chairman presented to the Board, a petition in connection with the division of the lst Pre- 9 i cinct of Smith Township for voting purposes, said petition having been filed at No. 190 May Term, 1942. As required by the Act of Assembly, full investigation of the facts will be made by the Board of Elections and a report of the findings and recommendations made to the next term of Court relative to the division of the said lst precinct. O'NEIL, COMMISSIONERS 1 1 E Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept the balance of delinquent taxes for the years 1928-29-30-31-53 in the name of Joe Ruth, Bettleyville Borough, without penalty and interest, such action being taken in cooperation with the Borough and School District of Bentleyville. Motion carried* Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to accept the 1928 county tax liened -against Barry L. Foringer in the 7th Ward of the City of Washington, on 30 feet of vacant lot No. 216 in the said ward, without penalty and interest, such action being taken in cooperation with the City and School District of the City of Washington* Motion carried, Motion duly mode and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to correct the desorip- Lion entered on the lien docket in the Treasurer's Office in the name of W. VT. Piper, Fallowfield Township, for the year 1934, for school taxes, against Lot.No. 26, Dawson Plan, erroneously des - Patterson Plan;,the said Lot No. 26 cribed on said docket as Lot No. 26/liawson Plan having been sold by the County Treasurer to James Cheatem, the deed for same having carried the incorrect description and the proper person is here- by authorized to correct said deed to cover Lot No. 26 Dawson Plan, rather than Lot No. 26 Patter- son Plan in the said Fillowfield Township. Motion carried. Motion duly made and seconded that the County Treasurer be authorized to cancel the tax sale of April 22, 1940, in the name of Mary Lesko, against Lot No, 64, Plan No. 3, Canonsburg Improve- ment Company, lst Ward, Canonsburg, the description carried in such tax sale being incorrect in that the said Mary Lesko actually owns Lot No. 65 in the said plan, but in order to protect the title to her property, the said Mary Lesko paid the tax under Act No. 17 on July 8, 1941, against the said lot as erroneously described in the tax sale. Motion carried* The Board confirmed the reading of Minutes No. 289-290-291 on Friday, May 1, 1942; there being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned. . Board of County Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman, Cummins and O'Neil, Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that Steve Shook, now employed as,Clerk in the Registration Office, be named as Assistant to the Chief Clerk in that office to replace Gino Amanati who is now in the armed forces cof the United States, such appointment to be effective as of May 1, 1942, and to cover the period from that date until the first Monday in Janusry, 1:,,430 with proviso that he may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice. Motion carried, with no- tation of this appointment to be made on the minutes of the Registration Commission, Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that John Lombardo, now employed as extra help in the Registration Office, be employed regularly in that office to fill the vaeemay caused 13
