Office of the County Commissioners,
Washington, Pa., January 4, 1943.
Board of County Commissioners in regular session with the following members present:
John D. Berryman, Ross R.. Cummins and John N. O'Neil.
The organization of the Board of County Commissioners effected on the first Monday of
January, 1940, c*ntinued in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly of 1929,
(County Code),,to wit-: John D. Berryman, Chairman of the Board, and Ross R. Cumn.i.ns, Secretary.
First in the order of business was the confirmation of the appointment of T. C. Hickson,
Chief Clerk to the County Commissioners, David H. Weiner, County Solicitor, and David H. Davidson
Sealer of Weights and Measures, for the year 1943, each of the foregoing appointments having
been made the first Monday in January, 1940, for a four-year period.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and unanimously carried, the Board adjourned to meet at
the call of the Chairman.

Board of County Commissioners in regular session, specially called, those present being
Messrs. Cummins and O'Neil, Mr. Berryman being; absent.
Motion duly made and seconded that an Agreement between Washington County and T. J. Hughes,
Donegal Township, this county, be executed, covering the quarrying of all stone from January 2,
1943, to January 2, 1944, on that certain tract of land owned by the said T. J. Hughes and
described as land located one and one-half miles North of Claysville on State Highway Route
62096, about one-half mile from its intersection with the County road known as the Claysville-
B6thany Road, for the sum of 75.00. Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that confirmation be given to the execution of the Deed of
Release and Quitclaim under date of October 23, 1942, between Washington County and the West
Penn Power Company , Pittsburgr, Pa., whereby the said West Penn Power Company does remise, re-
lease, quitclaim and forever discharge the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania dnd the County of Wash-
ington joining; therewith, of and from all suits, damages, claims and demands whatsoever, in law
or equity, or otherwise, against the said Commonwealth in the improving thereof, for or by reason
of the change of grade of that section of road in Fallowfield and Carroll Townships, designated
as State Highway Route No. 62048-62050. Motion carried.
Motion duly made and seconded that in accordance with the terms of the aforementioned Deed
of Release and Quitclaim, filed at No. 328 November Term, 1942, approval be given to the payment
of the sum of $466.54, in favor of the West Penn Power Company, Pittsburgh,,Pa., representing the

There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was adjourned.

Motion by Mr. Cummins, seconded by Mr. Berryman, that the following named persons be employed
in the Office of the County Commissioners in the respective capacities set forth for the year 1943,
covering the period from the ffi-Ast Monday in January, 1943, to the first Monday in January, 1944,
with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice:

coming under the jurisdiction of the County Commissioners be reappointed to their respective
positions for the year 1943, covering the period from the first Monday in January, 1943, to the
first Monday in January, 1944, with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty days' notice:
