Commissioners in regular session, those present being Messrs. Berryman.,
Amos and OfNeil.
Motion by Mr. Amos, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that the-County- Commissioners
accept the proposal of Peter F. Loftus for the -installation- of- stakers,-in the
boiler room, as embodied herewith;
First: We shall prepare plans and specifications covering- the furnishing.,
installing, and placing into successful operation; in� the boiler
plant of the Washington County Court House and Jail., two single
retort, underfeed stokers., each capable of developing - 150 boiler
horsepower, and complete with accessories.
We shall tabulate the various proposals covering- this equbpment.,
assist in the award of contracts., give periodic supervision of
the installation of the equipment., and make a final inspection
and acceptance.
Second: We shall prepare specifications covering the rehabilitation of the
heating and ventilating system.
We shall tabulate the proposals of the various bidders., assist in
the- aWard of contracts, give periodic supervision of the work of
rehabilitation, and make final inspection and acceptance of this
work, which will include:
(1) Replacing present obsolete- thermostats,-with modern thermostats
of the enclosed type susceptible to adjustment -by the plant engi-
neer -only.
(2) Replacing defective dampers, cleaning., and adjusting all dampers
not replaced.
(3) thoroughly overhauling and servicing all Warren-Webster vacuum
equipment. installing larger steam traps at necessary points.
(4) Following the above rehabilitation., test all points of the
delivery system and install dampers in such supply ducts as is
found necessary to properly control and distribute the air to
various points in the building .
(5� Tightening of all obviously loose windows.
6 Vacuum cleaning of hot and tempered air ducts., laterals and
risers of the entire system.
The services outlined in this proposal shall be performed in consideration
of the payment by the Board of County Commissioners of Washington County, Penn-
sylvania, to Peter F. Loftus, Consulting Eineers of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
the sum of Twelve Hundred Dollars ($1200.00ng) , this payment to be made upon the
completion of the final acceptance of the stoker equipment and the rehabilita-
tion of the heating and ventilating system.
Motion carried.
There being no further business before the Board., the meeting was adjourned*
