January 26, 1939.
Joint meeting of the Washington County Court and the Salary Board of the
County of Washington, in the Office of the County Commissioners on Thursday,
January 26, 1939, at 10:00 A.M., those present being Hon. Howard. W. Hughes, Hon.
Carl E. Gibson, Hon. R. W. Knox, County Commissioners John D. Berryman, Earl B.
Amos and John N. O'Neil, and County Controller J. K. Smith.
Motion by Judge Hughes, seconded by Judge Gibson, that Irene F. Steed be
appointed as stenographer in the Probation Department of the Juvenile Court and
Carolina V. Taylor as stenographer in the Complaint Department of the Juvenile
Uourt, for the year 1939, with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty
days' notice, and that the salgry of each be fixed at $85.00 per month, effective
January 2. 1939. Motion carried.
There being no further business before the joint session, it was adjourned.

The'Saiary Board of the County of Washington, having to do with salaries and
employees coming under the jurisdiction of the County Commissioners, met in the
Office of the County Commissioners, Court House, Washington, Pa., on Thursday,
January 26, 1939, at 10:30 A.M., with the following members present: County
Commissioners Berryman, Amos and O'Neil and County Controller Smith.
Motion by Mr. Amos, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that all employees in the various
departments coming under the particular jurisdiction of the County Commissioners
be retained for the year 1939 in their respective capacities and at the same
salaries as for the year 1938, with proviso that each may be dismissed upon thirty
days' notice, as listed below:

Motion duly made, seconded and carried that the Board adjourn to fix salaries
at the Juvenile Detention Home at 10:45 A•M.
The Salary Board of the County of Washington, having to do with salaries
and employees coming under its jurisdiction, met in the Office of the County Com-
missioners, Court House, Washington, Pa., on Thursday, January 26, 1939, at 10:45
A.M., to fix salaries of employees at the Detention Home, with the following
members of the Board present: Messrs. Berryman, Amos and O?Neil and County Con-
troller Smith.
Motion by Mr. Amos, seconded by Mr. OfNeil, that the employees at the
Juvenile Detention Home be retained in their respective capacities for the year
1939, at the same salaries as for the year 1938, with proviso that each may be
dismissed upon thirty days► notice, as follows:
Mrs. Anna Hair, Matron, $50.00 per month
Miss Flizabeth Hair, Asstt Matron, 25.00 " "
Motion carried.
Upon motion duly made, seconded and carried, the Board adjourned to meet at
11:00 A.M., to fix salaries in the Registration Office.
