Adjourned meeting of County Commissioners held in office of County Commis- sioners, Court House, Washington, Pa. , on Monday, March 19, 1934, members present being Messrs. Johnston, O'Neil and Barnes. Motion by Mr. O'Neil, without a second, that the County of Washington purchase twenty-five (25) Voting Machines from the Automatic Machine Corpora- tion, Jamestown, N.Y. , at the price or bid per machine as submitted by said Corporation on Feb. 20, 1934. There being no second to the motion, it was declared lost. Motion by fir. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that in view of the fact that the most recent information we have is to the effect that we must proceed at once towards installing Voting Machines for Washington County, or have the State purchase the entire number necessary, that the County elects to purchase according to the terms of the specifications twenty-five (25) Shoup Voting Machines, for delivery April 15, 1934, from the low bidder, to-wit, The General Sales Engineering Corporation, and that contract be awarded to said Corporation for the said twenty-five (25) Voting Machines, at the price submitted on Febru- ary 20, 1934, to-wit, $1048.67 per machine, manually operated, and that Secretary notify the bidders of this action and County Controller be directed to return certified check of unsuccessful bidder and that the Secretary further be directed to reply to letter from Mr. Richard J. Beamish, Secretary of the Commonwealth* dated March 140 1934, notifying him of this action. Question called for: voting "Aye". Messrs. Barnes and Johnston. Mr. O'Neil voiced objections to the awarding of contract and voted "NO". Motion declared carried. Motion by Mr. OtNeil, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that Dorothy Horn be employed, on trial period of thirty days, as additional clerk in the voucher department of the County Commissioners' Office. Motion carried, There being "further business before the board, the meeting was adjourned. (SIGNED) MUNTY commissioNERS.
