County Commissioners and representatives df Board of School Directors of Jefferson Township and Board of Road Supervisors of Jefferson Township met in the office of the County Commissioners, Court Houses Washington, Pa., on Monday* April 23, 1934 at 10 A.M. for the purpose of receivitg bids on -rails, mine cars, tipple and scrap iron on the property formerly owned by the Panhandle Block Coal Co. in the township of Jeffersons but now owned by the County of Washington by virtue of its purchase thereof at a Treasurer's tax sale; present for County Commissioners, Messrs. Johnston and O'Neil. Present for School Boards Mrs. Frank Dellenbaugh, Pres. , P. T. Morgan, Vice Pres. , and W. M. Truax, and for Board of Supervisors, Messrs. Earl Cunningham, C. V. Melvin and Louis Wiegmann. County Commissioner Johnston presided. Bids from the following individuals or concerns were opened and read before the meeting: Charles J. McKnight of Jeanette offered $16,55 per gross tons 2240 lbs, , or about $15.85 per short ton for rails and $2 each for 13 mine cars; James R. Walthour offered $13 per ton for rails, $2.10 each for 13 mine cars and $4 per ton for scrap iron; Charles Berman offered $12.50 per gross ton for rails, or a total cash sum of $1150 for all rails and other scrap material; L. Caplan offered $13.25 per ton for rails, $4 each for pit ears, $4 per gross ton for scrap iron and $150 for tipple; The Greensburg-Connellsville Coal & Coke Co. offered $13.50 per ton for rails. After consideration of the above bids, no action being taken, it was moved, seconded., and carried that the meeting adjourn until about 1:30, and meeting stood adjourned until that hour. At 1:30 Of Monday, April 23, the adjourned meeting of County Commissioners and representatives of Jefferson Township School Board and Jefferson Township Road Supervisors was held in the office of the County Commissioners, Court House-0 Washington, Pa. County Commissioner Johnston presided* The bids for rails, mine cars, and other material received and opened at the morning session were discussed and considered. The representative of the Greensburg-Connelsville Coal & Coke Co. appeared before the meeting and stated thit his Company, not having included a bid for the tipple in its former offers would pay the sum of $1800 cash for all rails, mine ears, scrap iron, tipple, ate. Motion by Mr. Morgan, seconded by Mr. Cunningham that the said bid of the Greensburg-Connellsville Coal & Coke Co. , being the best and highest offerramade should be accepted and that the sale of said materials be ordered made to the said Greensburg-Connellsville Coal & Coke Co. at its offer of $1800, cash, 156 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA J. There being no further business before the meeting, it was duly adjourned. Motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. O'Neil, that contract for printing ballots for Spring Primary of May 15, 1934, be awarded to the Ward Printing Company, Washington, Pa. , at the price or bid submitted by said Company,, and as same may be required by the County of Washington, and that contract for Election Supplies for Spring Primary of May 15, 1934 be awarded to ' the Wm. G. Johnston Co. , Pittsburgh, Pa. , at the price or bid submitted by said Company and as same may be required by the County of Washington. Motion carried.
