The Salary Board of the County of Washington met on Wednesday,
January 8, 1930, at 11 A. M., at the call of the Chairman, members present
being County Commissioners Johnston, Barnes and Walker and County Controller
Woodward.
Chairman Johnston in the chair.
Motion by Mr. Woodward, seconded by Mr. Walker, that the Board
proceed to fix salaries of employees of County Commissioners' Office, excepting
Mr. Decker and Mr. Workman, and of all county employees coming under the juris-
diction of the County Commissioners, excluding employees of the County Engineerts
department, at the same figures as were paid during the past year. Motion carried,
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the salaries of
employees of the County Engineerts De �artment shall be the same for the ensuing
year as were paid during the past year. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the salaries
of employees of the County Engineerts Department shall be the same for the en-
suing year as were paid during the past year. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Me. Woodward, that the salary
of Samuel Workman be fixed for the period of thirty (30) days at same monthly
raise as paid to him during the past year, Notion carried.
Motion by Mr._. Woodw"d, �eandnded7,byrMr:cWdLlker, that the salary
of -Markel. Decker be fixed at $150.00 per month. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Walker, that extra employees
that may be used in any of the county offices shall be paid for their services at
rate not to exceed $4.00 per diem. Motion carried.
There being no further business before the Salary Board it adjourned
to meet with the county officers who had not yet appeared before the Board.

The Salary Board having to do with the matter of salaries and employeef
in and for the office of the County Controller met on Wednesday, January 8, 1930,
at 11.10 A. M., members present being County Commissioners Johnston, Barnes and
Walker and County Controller Woodward. Chairman Johnston in the chair.
Motion by Mr. Woodward, seconded by Mr. Walker that the following

persons shall be employed in the office of the County Controller, at salaries
indicated.-

Carl A. Swallow, Deputy Controller, salary $200.00 per month.
Margaret E. Eisert, Clerk and Stenographer, Salary $100.00 per month.
George T. Bloom, Solicitor.
Motion carried.
Salary 1800.00 per annum

The Salary Board having to do with the matter of salaries and employees in
and for the office of Recorder of Deeds met on Wednesday. January 8, 1930,
at 11:15 A. M., members present being County Commissioners Johnston, Barnes
and Walker, County Controller Woodward and Recorder L. Frank Baker. Chairman
Johnston in the chair.
Motion by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that employees in the
office of Recorder of Deeds be retained at same salaries as heretofore.
Motion carried.
There being no further business before the Board, the meeting
was adjourned.
The Salary Board having to do with the matter of salaries and
employees in and for the office of Sheriff met in the office of the County
Commissioners, Court House, on Wednesday, Janueyy 8, 1930, at 2:45 P. M.,
members present being County Commissioners Johnston, Walker and -Barnes, County
Controller Woodward, Sheriff J. A. Seaman.
The Salary Board having to do with the matter of salaries and
employees in and for the office of Sheriff met in the office of the County
Commissioners, Court House, on Wednesday, January S. 1930, at 2:45 P. M.,
members present being County Commissioners Johnston, Walker and Barnes, County
Controller Woodward, Sheriff J. A. Seaman.
Chairman Johnston in the chair.
Sheriff Seaman presented the names of the following persons
as his appointees for positions In -the office of Sheriff for the ensuing year;
James McCue, Chief Deputy; James Kane, outside deputy; Chas. Hopkins, deputy;
Ody C. Abbott, deputy; Ola Marsh, stenographer.
Motion by Mr. Barnes, 'seconded by Mr. Walker that the salary
of Ola Marsh, stenographer, be fixed at $125.00 per month. Lotion carried.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Woodward, that the
salary of Ody C. Abbott be fixed at $175.00 per month. Motion carried,

Motion by Mr. Barnes, seconded by Mr. Walker, that the salary
of James McCue, Chief Deputy, be fixed at $175.00 per month. The vote

recorded indicated 2 ayes, 2 nays; Chairman Johnston voted "aye" and motion
carried.
Motion by Mr. Seaman, seconded by Mr. Woodward, that the salary of
James K4ftt be fixed at $175.00 per month. The vote recorded indicated two ayes,
three nays. Motion lost.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the salary of James
Kane be fixed at $150.00 per month. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr.,Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that 6he salary of James
Kane be fixed at $150.00 per month. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the salary of Chas.
Hopkins be fixed at $150.00 per month, for period of one month.
Motion carried.
Sheriff Seaman notified the Board thal he had appointed Harry D. Hamilton,
Esq., as his solicitor, at salary of $500.00 per snntda, as fixed by Act of
Assembly.
There being no further business before the Board, the meeting was
adjourned.
The Salary Board adjourned to meet at the call of the Chairman.
