BE IT RESOLVED, That all county officers now paid salaries who perform
services for which fees are paid shall be required to demand and collect such fees
iii advance; and, in* order to bring this rule to the attention of attorneys and
others, such officers shall have posted

The SALARY BOARD, having to do with salaries for the office of Prothonotary
iniet, in the office of the County Commissioners on Tuesday, January 8t 19248 at
11 :15 A. M. , following members being present ; --County Commissioners Johnston,
Walker and Barnes, County Controller Underwood and H 3 Pollock,, Prethenot'ary'. Board
organized' by electing Mr. Johnston Chairman and John G. Hall , Secretary,
Motioh by Mr.- Pollock, seconded by Mr. Walker, that the following employees be
retained' in' the office of the Prothonotary for the ensuing year, to-wit; Zrnost T.
McNary, dhief Deputy; Matilda J. Schwartz , Deputy, Russell J, Rigglo, Deputy, Miss
Ruth A Page, Clerk, Motion Unanimously carried.
Motion by Mr. Pollock, seconded by Mr. Walker, that Yr. McNary bet paid a
salary of $225 per month; that Miss Schwartz be paid a sals.11bof $110 per month;
that Mr, Riggle be paid a salary of 100 per month; that Rise Ruth A, Page be paid
68,162y of $90 per month. . ' Question called for; voting "Aye" , all meimbere of
Board for salaries of all excepting Mr. McNary; voting "Aye" on motion regarding
salary of Mr. McNary, Messrs. Pollock, Johnston, Walker and Barnes; voting oleo
on motion regarding salary of Mr. McNary, Mr. Underwood. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Pollock , seconded by Mr. Walker, that he be permitted to take
credit foP the sum of $4.00 per diem for roach man required to be In Court for
Minute Court or Sessions of Court and if required to employ other than a member
of his regular office force for such attendance in Court, that* -such employs be paid
by the County of Washington at rate of $4,00 per diem, said sum not to be obargod
against, his office, Amendment *to this motion offered by Xr, Underwood, s000ndod ty
Mr, Barnes, and carried, that the provisions of thk foregoing notion bo subjoet
to the approval Of the solicitors of *,be County Commissioners =4 Controller
the Court. Motion as amended then put before the -board and duly seconded and
unani4ou4sly carried.
There being no further business, the Board adjourned.

Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes , that salary of John G,
Hall , chief clerk, be fixed at $200 per month. Question called for; voting "Aye" ,
Messrs. Walker, Barnes and Johnston; voting "No" Mr. Underwood. Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that salary of Mrs,
Josephine stoner, clerk in office of County Commissioners , be fixed at $125 per
month. question called for;• Voting #Aye" , all members of Board, Motion carriod.
Motion by Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that salaries of
Mrs R. W. Taylor and Miss Monnis Sutherland, clerks in office of County* CG'M-
missioners, be fixed at $110 each per month. question called for; voting "Aye" ,
Messrs. Underwood and Barnes; voting "He" , Messrs, Johnston and Walker, TIE.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that Mrs. R. W, Taylor
and Miss Monnie Sutherland, clerks in office of County Commissioners , be -paid
salaries of $125 each per month,, question called for; voting "Aye" , Messrs.
Walker and Johnston; voting r1o" Mr. Underwood, Mr. Barnes. TIE.
Motion by Yr. Wall(er, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that Leo Maloney,
warrant clerk, be paid salary of $150 per month. question called for; voting
"Aye" , Messrs. Walker and Johnston; Voting "No" Messrs, Underwood and Barnes. TIE.
Motion by Mr. Barnes , seconded by Mr. Walker, that salary of A. M. Linn
solicitor to. Board of County Commissioners , be fixed at $1800 per annum. Motion
unanimously carried.
Motion duly made, seconded and carded that Board adjourn until 2 P M.

Commissioners on Tuesday, January 8, 1924, at 2 P M. , following membersbeing
present; -County Commissioners Johnston, Walker and Barnes and County Uontroller '
Underwood.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that John F. Curran,
sealer of weights and Measurds, be paid a salary of $200 per month. Question
called for; voting "Aye". Messrs. Walker and Johnston; voting "No" , Messrs. Barnes
and Underwood. TIE.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that Chaney Engineering
Company , County Engineers, be paid a salary of $4700 per ann**. question called

Motion carried.
Motion by Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Walker, that George H. Lynthk_'

engineer's office, be paid salary of $150 per month. Motion unanimously carried.
Motion by Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Walker, that Howard Smith,
stenographer in engineer's office, be paid a salary of $75,00 per month. Motion
unanimoulay carried.
Motion by. Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that Jolm Wilson, in
charge of county garage, be paid a salary of $125 per month. Motion unanimously
carried.
Motion by Mr. Underwood, seconded by Mr. Barnes, that the following
employees of county engineer's office be retained, as recommended by County
Engineer; as rate per diem as set forth below; Porter Doak, $5,50 per diem;
Harry Crumrine, $6.00 per diem; Earl Farrar, $5.per diem; Leslie Brady, $4.50
per diem; Wiison Doak, $4.50 per diem; Win, Richards, $3.50 per diem; Chas. Decked
$4.00 per diem; in addition to which they shall each be allowed 50 cents for each
meal procured while "out on the road" in the service of the County. Motion
unanimously carried.
There being no further business, the -Board adjourned.

The SALARY BOARD, having to do with salaries for the office of Recorder
of Deeds , met in the office of the County Commissioners on Tuesday, January 8,
1924, at 3 :40 P M. , following members being present; County Commissioners
Johnston, Walker, and Barnes, County Controller Underwood and Recorder August
Valentour. The Board organized by Electing Mr. Johnston Chairman and John G.
Hall , Secretary.
Motion by Mr. Valentour, seconded by Mr. Walkers that the following
employees be retained for the ensuing year in the office of the Recorder, to-wit;
Robert H. MeBurney, Deputy Recorder; Mrs. Vasta, Miller, Indox. Clork; Helen McNary,
Clerk; Ruth Galbraith, clerk; transcribing clerks, Miss Helen Hall, Mina Margaret
Sutherland, Miss Marie Lincoln, Mrs Isabelle Buck. Motion unanimously carried,
Motion by Mr. Valentour, seconded by Mr. Walker,, that employees of
Recorder's office be fixed as follows; --Robert R. McBurnsgo $�25 per month; 'Vesta
Miller, $150 per month; Helen McNary, $105 per month; Ruth Galbraith, $85 per
month; Miss Margaret Sutherland $100 per month, and t]4* transeribing, olorks re-
ceive an advance of 12* per cent on the sums heretofore paid them, eat ,piece work

Motion by Mr. Luellen, seconded by Mr. Walker, that the salary of Miss
Lucile Davis Stenographer in Sheriffts office, heretofore fixed at $90 per month
by the Salary Board, as. per motion of January 7 * 1924, be changed to $100 per month
the former motion being hereby rescinded, or repealed. Motion- unanimously c a
rried.
There being no further. business, the Board .adjourned,
The SALARY BOARD, having to do with salaries for the office of County
Controller, met in the office of the County Commissioners on Tuesday, January 8,
1924 , at 5-40 P M. , following members being present; County Commissioners Johnston,
Walker and Barnes, County Controller Underwood.
Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Underwood, that M. M. Decker,,
Clyde Segner and Ann Miller, deputy controller and clerks respectively in the
office I of the County Controller be granted an increase of $25 each per month during
the ensuing year. question-"Aye" Messrs. Walker, Underwood and -Johnston. Mr.
Barnes not voting.
There being no further business the Board adjourned,

Motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes , that the sum of $1600
be appropriated from the funds of the county for the use of the Washington County
Farm Bureau for the year 1924, and that the budget of the said Farm Bureau for the
year 1924, presented to the Board by the Committee of said Bureau be made a part
of this matter and placed on record.
Motion unanimously carried.
