Frank Baker, in the office of the County Commissioners , Court HQUee Washington, Pa.', on Monday, March 210 1927, at 11:30 A. M. ; members present being Messrs , Baker, County Controller Underwood, County Commissioners, Johnston, Walker and Barnes ; Motion by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Walker, that the office force in office of Recorder of Deeds , and salaries of employees, be adjusted in the following manner, tO-wit; that Vesta G. Johnston be Deputy Recorder, at salary of $�10 per month; Bernice Baker, Assistant Deputy Recorder, at salary of 110.00 per- month; Grace Wilson be index clerk, at salary of $200 per mont4; and Marie Lincoln, Helen R. Hall, Isabelle McDougall and Margaret M. 6utherland be transcribing clerks , at salaries as follows ;--Marie Lincoln, $110#00 per month; Helen R.Hall, Isabella McDougall, and Margaret M. Sutherland, each $100 per month; all salaries , as above, to be effective as of March 1, 1927, save in tiie Case of Grace Wilson, whose employment dates from liarch 8th, and salary to be computed from that date. Motion carried. From the Minutes ; A True Copy, Attest;---------------------- Secretary. ----------- March 21, 1927- Commissioners in regular session, members present being Messrs . Walker, Johnston and Barnes. The following resolution was duly presented, seconded and unan- imously adopted:- WHEREAS, It is provided by Act of Assembly approved May 31, 1911, P. L. 468, that the Secretary of Highways , with respect to any state-aid contract, shall Uertify to the State Treasurer, and to the officials of the re- spective county, township or borough concerned therewith* from time to time during the performance of the work any sum or sums due from said county, township, or borough on the cost of such improvements and WHEREAS, The County of Washington has applied for the aid aA cooperation of the state in the reconstruction or improvement of section No. 4 of State, Highway Route No. 115, lying, the Town" of Smith: in the 506 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA J. ELMER JOHNSTON, JAMES W.WALKER, W.A.BARNES, COMMISSIONERS same manner as a state-aid highway, in accordance with the provisions of the Act of May 17, 1917, P. L. 235, said road being situated as follows : From the end of present brick pavement at the northwest boundary of -6urgettstown Borough, Smith Township, at Station 999168 to a point opposite the property of the Harmon Creek Coal Company, approximately 1,000 feet southwest of Smith Hanover Township line, at Station 1111100, Application No. 4272. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That the said county of Washington pay to the State Treasurer its proportionate share of the cost of such im- provement, to wit: Fifty (50) per centum thereof within ten (10 )' days after receipt from time to time during the performance of the work of certification from the Secretary of Highways showing the amount of work performed and the material furnished by the contractor having said contract in charge, and that the commiosioners of said county, or a majority of them be authorized to enter into an agreement with the Secretary of Highways on behalf of the Com- monwealth providing for such payment in the manner aforesaid. The Salary Board, having to do with salaries and employees in the office of the Sheriff, met on Monday, March 28, 1927, at ll :so A. M. , at the call of the Sheriff, Ody C. Abbott; members present being Sheriff Abbott, County Commissioners 4ohnston and Barnes and County Controller Underwood Motion by Mr. Abbott, seconded by Mr. Underwood, that, by reason of the fact that Mrs Riser, an employee in the office of the Sheriff, had tendered her resignation, and same had been accepted, that aLiss 01a Marsh be appointed to fill the vacancy thus caused, at the same salary as that re- ceived by Mrs. Riser, the appointment of -kiss Marsh to be effective as of March 1, 1927- motion carried.
