Johnston, Walker and Barnes ; Joint meeting with County Controller at 12 M. Eastern Daylight Savings Time , to open bids for printing and delivering ballots for use at Fall Primary of :September 2Q, 1927, as per advertisement by County Controller; present for County Commissioners, Messrs . Johnston, Walker and ""arnes ; County Controller Underwood present; bids were opened in presence of County Com- missioners from following concerns , each bid accompanied by certified check for $500; ----------- Ward Printing Company, -Washington, for 75,000 Official-30,000 Specimen, tl445.00 Monongahela Pub. Co. , Monongahela, for 75,000 Official-20,000 Specimen, 3271.55 Derrick Pub. Co. , Oil City, for 75,000 Official-20,000 Specimen, 1315.40 motion by Mr* Barnes , seconded by Mr. Walker, that awarding of con- tract be deferred until a later date; that check accompanying bid of Monon- gahela Pub. Co. be returned to bidder by County Controller. Motion carried. There being no further business before the joint meeting, it was ad- journed. Johnston, Walker and -barnes ; County Controller Onderwood present; representa- tive of Ward Printing Company, Washington, present and stated that his firm had erroneously presented bid bid for supplying 75, 000 official ballots and 30,000 specimen ballots , although advertisement called for but 20,000 specimen ballots ; based upon 20,000 specimen ballots , as were the bids of Derrick Pub- li shing Company and Monongahela -"ublishing Company, the bid of the Ward Printing Company, as stated by representative, would be #1307-80; this being, the lowest and best bid, motion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Barnes , that contract for printing and delivering ballots for Fall Primary of Sept. 20, 1927, be awarded to Ward Printing Company, at the bid sum of $1307.80 and that County 531 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA J.ELMER JOHNSTON, JAMES W.WALKER, W.A.BARNES, COMMISS4CWERS controller be directed to return certified checks of unsuccessful bidders. Nichol, 439.00 No check -otion by Mr. Walker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that contract be awarded to Mark Knestrick at his bid of $390.00 and that Controller be re- quested to return checks of, unsuccessful bidder.
