Mr. Baker, and unanimously carried, contracts were awarded to the following '
firms and individuals for the construction of the highways indicated at the !
proposals named in their respective bids: -

These roads to be treated as separate contracts and contractor to give bond
for construction of each section.

Midway-Steubenville Pike 27,442.58
Motion by Mr. Johnston, seconded by Mr. Baker, that the
awarding of contracts for Avella-Cross Creek Road, Frye Station Road,
Midway-Bulger Road and McMurray Road be deferred for the time being.

Walker, Johnston and Baker.
Motion by Mr. Johnston, seconded by Mr. Baker, that Miss Georg-
ene Holmes be elected to the position of stenographer in the office of S. B.,
Kimberland, County Superintendent of. Sohools, at a salary of $85.00 per
month, her appointment to be effective as of May let, 1922. Motion unani-
mously carried.

motion by Mr. Baker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that the con-
tract for the construction of the Avella®Cross Creek Road be awarded to the
Samuel Gamble Company, Carnegie, at the total cost of $62, 216.80; that the
Midway-Bulger Road be awarded to McDermott & Hannon, Niles, Ohio , at the
total cost of $57, 341.50; that the McMurray Road be awarded to McDermott
& Hannon, Niles, Ohio , at the total cost of $42,935.85-

Motion by Mr. Johnston, seconded by Mr. Baker, that the
following persons be appointed to assist the Official Return Board in
computing the votes cast at the Spring Primary held on May 16, 1922:-
Virginia Waltz, Adeline Keegan, Russell Ullom, Harry Riser, Fred Reynolds,
Charles Hammond, Herbert Bridges and Anna W. Corwin; the said persons to
commence work of counting said vote at noon Friday, May 19, 1922, and
that their compensation be fixed at $7.00 per day each. Motion unani-
mously carried.
There being nofurther business, the Board adjourned.

Board of County Commissioners in regular sessio n,,' each member
having had personal notice of the meeting; members present being Messrs.
Walker, Johnston and Ecker.
The following resolution of the Board of County Commissioners
of the County of Washington, relative to the issue by the said county of
$25, 000.00 in temporary loans was presented, duly seconded and unanimously
adopted by said Board, to wit:
WHEREAS, it has become necessary for the said Board to borrow
the sum of $25, 000.00 for the purpose of meeting current expenses for the
year 1922 and for which taxes have been levied but are not yet paid into
the County Treasurer, now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of the
said County of Washington, that for the purpose of providing funds for the
payment of current expenses, the proper officers of the said county are
hereby authorized and directed to negotiate temporary loans and issue
notes therefor, payable on demand, with interest from date; said notes
