BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA

Commissioners in regular- session, members present being
Messrs. Walker, Johnston and Bcker.
Motion by Mr. Johnston, seconded by- Mr. Ecker, that contract
for excavating work on Short Creek Road be awarded to Messrs. Clutter &
Clutter in accordance. with proposal submitted by them,- i.e. to excavate
material and load same on wagons at rate of forty-two (42) cents per
cubic yard, the County of Washington to furnish- necessary teams, wagons,
etc. Motion unanimously carried.
There being no further business, the Board adjourned.

Motion by Mr. • Johnston, seconded by Mr. Boker, that the
Manufacturers Light & Heat Company be given permission to lay three inch
" low pressure line, and one and one-fourth inch service line, to the
residence of Mr. W. J. Grier, on the Meadowlands-Houston County Road, in
Chartiers Township, in accordance with request of said Company and in
conformity with sketches submitted of proposed location of said lines.
Motion unanimously carried.
There being no`-, further business, the. Board adjourned.

Sheriff Luellen -appeared before the Board and reported that
an emergency had- arisen which required adequate methods for preserving the

peace of the county, whereupon there was a motion by Mr. Ecker, seconded
by, Mr. Johnston, that the Sheriff be instructed to purchase at once such
equipment in the way of fire-arms and gas bombs as he might deem necessary
for use in such emergencies as might arise. Motion unanimously carried.
There being no further business, the Board adjourned.

Motion by Mr. Bcker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that the sum
of Two Thousand ($2000.00) Dollars be appropriated to the Mothers of Democ-
racy, Canonsburg, Pa.,, to be paid to the proper officer, to be applied to
the cost of, erecting a proposed Memorial in the community ,of Canonsburg,
in honor of soldiers,- ,sailors and marines, the design of the proposed
Memorial to have the approval of the State Art ,Commission, as required by
Act of Assembly. motion unanimously carried.
Motion by Mr. Bcker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that the
County Solicitor be directed to immediately take the legal action necessary
to Permanently improve the uncompleted section of the Washington-Monongahela
Pike and to place before the Grand Jury the matter of issuing Three Hundred
Thousand ($300,000.00) Dollars of bonds of the remaining portion of the
Million Dollars of bonds voted upon and authorized by a majority vote of
the electors of- Washington County on June 18, 1919.. Motion unanimously
carried.
There being no further business, the Board adjourned.
