BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA
J ELMER JOHNSTON, JAMES W WALKER, W H ECKER, COMMISSIONERS
Board organized by electing Mr. Walker, Chairman, and John G. Hall, Secretary:
Motion by Mr. Valentour, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that all
employees of Recorder's office be re-elected for the year 1923 at same
salaries paid to them during the year 1922. Motion carried.
There being no further business, the Board adjourned.,
The Salary Board, having to do with salaries for the office
of Sherif, -v
- f, met in the office of the County Commissioners on Tuesday, Januat
2, 1923, follwoing members being present: -,Sheriff Luellen, County Commiss-)
ioners Walker, Johheton and Boker, Controller Underwood. Board organized
by electing Mr. Walker. -Chairman, and John G_- Hall, Secretary.
Motion by Mr. Luellen, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that all
employees of Sheriff's Office be re-elected for the year 1923 at same

The following resolutions were presented and adopted:
RESOLVED by the County Commissioners of Washington'Cou-nty,
Pennsylvania, that they deem it expedient to improve, under the provisions of
the Act of Assembly of said Commonwealth, approved May li, 1911, the following
described section of one of the main roads or-highwayswithin said -County,
to wit:
A section of the highway known as the road leading from
California to the National Pike at Malden, beginning at the forks of the road
at the Dr. Leatherman property; thence by way of said California and Malden;
Road in a southwesterly direction through the Township of East Pike Run, a
distance of 2,350 feet to the Borough Line of Centerville Borough.
That an application for the approval of such -improvement be
presented to the Court of quarter Sessions of said County and that upon the;

approval of such application by the Grand Jury and Court, the County Commiss-
ioners shall improve the said described section of road in accordance with
the surveys and plans therefor, which have been prepared by the County Road
Engineers and in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly afore-
said and its supplements.

RESOLVED by the County Commissioners of Washington County,
Pennsylvania, that they deem it expedient to improve, under the provisions
of the Act of Assembly of said Commonwealth, approved May 11, 1911, the
following described section of one of -the main roads or highways within
said County, to wit:
A section of the public highway known as Washington Avenue in
Midway Borough, beginning at the present end of the concrete pavement on
said Avenue near the Western Borough Line and extending eastwardly via
Washington Avenue to St. John Street, thence under the Railroad Arch to the
intersection of St. John Street and Railroad Street, a distance of 1500 feet,
more or less.
That an application for the approval of such improvement be
presented to the Court of Quarter Sessions of said County and that upon the
approval of such application by the Grand Jury and Court, the County Commiss-
ioners shall improve the said described section of road in accordance with
the surveys and plans therefor, which have been prepared by the County Road
Engineers and in accordance with the provisions of the Act of Assembly
.aforesaid and its supplements.

A section of the public highway known as the McMurray -Pitts-
burgh Road, beginning at the concrete arch in McMurray and extending by
way of the McMurray -Pittsburgh Road to the Allegheny County Line on the
farm of L.. Z. Houston, a distance of 8,236 feet, more or less.
That an application for the approval of such improvement be
presented to the Court of quarter Sessions of said County and that upon
the approval of such application by the Grand Jury and Court, the County
Commissioners shall improve the said described section of road in accord-
ance with the surveys and plans therefor, whioh-have been prepared by the

Motion by Mr. Johnston, seconded by Mr. Ecker, that contract.
for wiring the Detention Home, #80 West Beau Street, be let to the Washington
Wiring Company at it bid of $54.00, the work to be as follows:

Johnston and Ecker; Mr. Walker having notice of meeting, but absent.

Joint meeting at 11 A.M. of County Commissioners and County
Controller to open bids for delivery of Ballots and Election Supplies.to the
various election districts of the County for Special Election of January 18,
1923; present for County Commissioners, Messrs. Johnston and Eoker; for
County Controller, Deputy Controller M. M. Decker. ,But one bid had'been
received and this was opened in presence of County Commissioners, it being
the bid of Wm. Galley, as follows:
Delivery'of Ballots and Supplies--------$650.00
Bid accompanied by certified check as required.
Motion by Mr. Ecker, seconded by Mr. Johnston, that contract
for delivery of ballots and supplies for Special Election of January 18, 1923,
be awarded to Mr. Wm. Galley at his bid of $650.00. question called for;
voting "Aye", Messrs. Ecker and Johnston. Motion carried.
There being no further business before the pint meeting, it was
adjourned.
