Washington County Commissioners
Washington, PA, June 3, 2010
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office
Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following members being present:
Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana L. Irey; and Controller Mike Namie. Also being present: Scott Fergus,
Director of Administration; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant;
Sue Orrick, Commissioners' Office; Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; Carl Maggi and John Adams, interested
citizens.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:40 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving Minute No. 5-S-10 dated May 6, 2010 as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Ms. Irey — Yes; Mr. Burns — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENTS:
John Adams of Avella stated the Commissioners need to give taxpayers tax relief.
BOARDS CONSIDERATION
Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving the personnel requests found on the FOR THE
BOARD'S CONSIDERATION chart as follows:
ELECTIONS
Per diem employee,15.00/hour, extend position from 6/4/10 to 6/25/10
Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving the foregoing personnel item for the Elections Office.
Roll call vote taken:
Ms. Irey - Yes; Mr. Burns - Yes;
Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
LEAVES OF ABSENCES — May 6-Tune 2. 2010
Chairman Maggi noted for the record that the following leaves of absences:
Tricia Ball, Caseworker II, FMLA medical, eff. 5/12/10 to 5/21/10
Melissa Couts, Cashier II, FMLA medical, eff. 5/19/10 to 6/30/10
Tina Kovacs, LPN, Intermittent leave for husband
Tamera Mankey, Depty Clerk of Courts, FMLA medical, eff. 5/14/10 to 8/6/10
Cheryl McGavitt, RN Supervisor, FMLA medical, eff. 4/29/10 to 6/4/10
Kelly McGowan, Recreation Specialist, Intermittent leave for self
Mary McKinney, Van Driver, Intermittent leave for daughter
Shelby Minor, Caseworker II, Intermittent leave for self
Marsha Dykins Pastor, Activity Aide, Intermittent for self
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi recessed the meeting at approximately 11:30 a.m.
