The Commissioners presented certificates to the employees of the Parks Department recognizing them for . their hard work and for all the improvements throughout the parks. Mr. Donahue and Garrison acknowledged the and their dedication to keeping the parks in tip gentlemen top shape and their hard work. The Commissioners presented a certificate of congratulations to Nancy Weiss who.recently retired from the Law Library after many years of service with the county. She accepted the certificate and thanked the Board and all her friends for the opportunity to work with the county. Mrs. Weiss noted that the law library is a very vital part of the legal system and stated it is there to help,: citizens find the information they are looking for regarding legal issues. She said she has enjoyed it very much and looks forward to spending time with her family and traveling. At this time, Ms. Weller commended Mrs. Weiss for all of her many years of public service and noted she is the quintessential librarian. She also introduced Stephanie Black who will be the new law librarian. (RECESS FOR PHOTOS) PUBLIC COMMENTS John Adams, of Avella, addressed''the Board regarding the unions and the impact that they have for working citizens. He also commented on gas drilling and what effects this could have on the. surrounding area. OLD BUSINESS Solicitor DeHaven recommended the Board award the bid for the furnishing and delivering of landscaping supplies for all county buildings to the following vendors based on the "per unit cost" submitted in their bid proposal. New Look Landscaping & Design, Inc., Washington, PA Zwicker Land Design, Claysville, PA A&S Landscaping, Inc., Canonsburg, PA Del -Sir. Supply, Inc., Meadowlands, PA John Deere Landscapes, Cleveland, OH Isbir Construction.& Landscape Corp., Elizabeth, PA This bid is being awarded to the lowest most responsive and responsible bidders meeting the specifications. Solicitor DeHaven recommended the Board approve and extension to the pharmacy services bid contract with Jeffrey's Drug Store, Inc., Canonsburg, PA for one additional month for the Correctional Facility to allow for a smooth transition with the new vendor. The extension will be through May 31, 2011,and is in accordance with the .. original proposal documents. Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, seconded by: Mr.. He stated the county has programs in place to prevent developers. from purchasing land to develop and protects land for agricultural purposes. Chief Clerk presented to the Board for their consideration and approval of two reimbursement agreements with PADOT for the completion of Phase II (final) of the Panhandle Trail: Enhancement funds: $283,729 Pennsylvania Community Transportation Initiative:: $443,500 The total construction funding of $727,229 does not require an additional county match beyond the.
