Washington County Commissioners
Washington, PA, May 5, 2011
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office
Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following members being present:
Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey Vaughan; and Controller Michael Namie. Also being present:
Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Linda Belcher, Administrative
Assistant; Chris Weller, Court Administrator; Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; Carl Maggi and John Adams,
interested citizens; Jim Jefferson, WJPA; and Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:15 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Burns, approving Minute No. 4-S-11 dated April 7, 2011 as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Mrs. Irey Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Burns — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC: COMMENTS:
John Adams, of Avella, commented on the elected officials 3% raises. He stated that the taxpayers cannot afford these
increases.
FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION
TAX REVENUE
Temporary Employee,15.711/hour, create one position, eff. 5/31/11 through 8/19/11 to work on s special scanning
project. The position will be funded by the Recorder of Deeds Record Improvement Fund and no County funds are
required.
CHILDLREN AND YOUTH SERVICES
Caseworker I, abolish one vacant FT union position, eff. 5/5/11
'social Services (Case) Aide, 80% - 10.14/hour, create one FT union position, eff. 5/5/11
VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS
'summer employees, 7.25/hour, create positions for the departments that established summer employees in the 2011
budget, not to exceed budget amount, eff. 5/16/11 through 8/31/11
Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, Burns, approving the foregoing personnel items.
