HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - SB 12-20-12 - 12-20-2012 - SALARYMINUTE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. SB 12-20-12 Salary Board Washington County Commissioners Washington, PA December 20, 2012 The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan G. Shober, Jr.; and Controller Michael Namie was absent from the meeting. Also being present: Director of Administration Scott Fergus; Chief Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Solicitor Lynn DeHaven; Human Resources Director Chuck Nicholls; Administrative Assistant Sue Orrick, District Attorney Gene Vittone; Observer -Reporter representative Barbara Miller; WJPA representative Jim Jefferson; and concerned citizens Robert Vaughan, Frank Byrd, John Adams and Joe Zupancic. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:35 a.m. Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Shober, approving Minute No. SB 12-6-12 dated December 6, 2012, as written. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Shober - Yes; Mrs. Irey Vaughan - Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes. Motion carried unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENTS John Adams of Independence Township commented on 3% wage increases.. FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION CHILDREN AND YOUTH SERVICES Casework Supervisor — $50,747.25/year, create one (1) temporary salaried position effective 12/20/12 while Hilary Burchett is on a paid leave of absence. The temporary position will be eliminated when Ms. Burchett goes on unpaid leave or when a full time Casework Supervisor position becomes vacant. Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan; seconded by Mr. Shober, approving the foregoing personnel requests. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Shober — Yes; Mrs. Irey Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes. Motion carried. LEAVES OF ABSENCES — December 6.2012 — December 19. 2012 Chairman Maggi noted for the record the following leaves of absences: Michele Bell, Legal Assistant, Domestic Relations, FMLA medical, effective 12/10/12 to 12/31/12 Dawn Dowling, Certified Nurses Aide, FMLA medical, effective 12/09/12 to 12/21/12 Joshua Hatfield, Deputy Controller, FMLA medical, effective 12/12/12 to 02/06/13 Tori Johnson, Certified Nurses Aide, FMLA medical, effective 12/14/12 to 12/20/12 Patricia Maxon, Employee Wellness/Benefits Administrator, FMLA 11/29/12 to 12/05/12 Amy Menzer, Laundry Worker, FMLA medical, effective 12/02/12 to 12/13/12 Pastor Marsha Dykins, Activity Aide, FMLA medical, effective 11/27/12 to 12/01/12 Randa Patterson, Food Service Worker, FMLA medical, effective 12/11/12 to 12/15/12 Christina Popovich, Caseworker III, FMLA medical, effective 12/11/12 to 01/25/13 Sheearla Satterfield, Certified Nurses Aide, FMLA medical, effective 11/28/12 to 12/01/12 Dianna Shymchyk, Caseworker I, FMLA medical leave for husband, effective 12/03/12 to 01/07/13 1 Chairman Maggi stated for the record items noted during 2012 were incorporated into the Salary Book. It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2012 salary schedule book may be corrected administratively by Human Resources.
