HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - SB 7-18-13 - 7-18-2013 - SALARYMINUTE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS 121 WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Salary Board Minute No. SB 7-18-13 Washington County Commissioners Washington, Pa., July 18, 2013 The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Vaugha -1, Harlan G. Shober, Jr. and Controller Mike Namie. Also being present: Coroner Tim Warco, Law Librarian Jamie Yancich; Director of Administration Scott Fergus; Chief Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Treasurer Francis King, Human Resources Generalists Carrie Taylor and Janice Urban; Observer -Reporter representative, Barbara Miller; WJPA representatives Jim Jefferson and Katherine Mansfield; and concerned citizens John Adams and Frank Byrd. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:50 a.m. Moved by Mrs. Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Shober, approving Minute No. SB 6-20-13 dated June 20, 2013, as written. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Shober - Yes; Mrs. Vaughan - Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes. Motion carried unanimously. PUBLIC COMMENTS John Adams of Independence Township commented on contract negotiations and 3% salary increases. FOR T: LIE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION COUR CS LAW LIBRARY Mrs. Vaughan, on behalf of President Judge O'Dell Seneca, presented to the board a motion to approve the following Assistant Law Librarian, $17.21/hour, create one temporary full time position effective beginning with the first day of Megan Beekman's paid leave of absence. The temporary position will be eliminated when Ms. Beekman goes on unpaid leave. Moved by Mrs. Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Shober; approving the foregoing personnel request. Roll call vote taken: Mrs. Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Shober — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; — Mr. Namie — Yes. Motion carried. CORONER Coroner Tim Warco presented to the Board a motion to approve the following Chief coroner's assistant, current salary $35,940.42, to requested salary $34,875.00/year, requested annual salary effective 7/18/13. Part time employee, $75.00/day, create one part time position effective 7/18/13; this position is being created in lieu of the contracted position that currently exists in the office. Moved by Mr. Warco, seconded by Mrs. Vaughan; approving the foregoing personnel requests. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Warco — Yes; Mr. Shober — Yes; Mrs. Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes. Motion carried. FOR'THE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION (Continued) Moved by Mrs. Vaughan seconded by Mr. Shober, approving the remaining personnel requests. Roll call vote taken: Mr. Shober - Yes; Mrs. Vaughan - Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie - Yes. Motion carried unanimously. 122 MINUTE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON, COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA LEAVES OF ABSENCES — June 20.2013 to July 17.2013 Chairman Maggi noted for the record the following leaves of absences: Leeann Howell, LPN, intermittent leave for son, 7/12/13 to 1/12/14 Kelley Falcon, TCO, FMLA medical, 6/26/13 to 7/24/13 Dolores Jones, certified nurses aide, FMLA medical, 6/26/13 to 7/10/13 Kelly Jones, MH program specialist I, FMLA maternity, 6/19/13 to 8/16/13 Tonna Parker, physical therapy aide, FMLA medical, 6/10/13 to 6/21/13 Gretchen Popielarczyk, unit clerk, intermittent leave for mother, 7 / 1 / 13 to 1 / 1 / 14 Robert Rizor Jr., restorative aide, FMLA medical, 6/21/13 to 8/12/13 Sandra Ruscello, certified nurses aide, intermittent leave for self, 7/4/13 to 12/31/13 William Seibert, certified nurses aide, medical leave, 5/30/13 to 6/28/13 Elizabeth Ward, certified nurses aide, FMLA medical, 7/4/13 to 7/7/13 Amber Wolfe, restorative aide, FMLA maternity, 6/18/13 to 9/18/13 Chairman Maggi stated for the record, items noted during 2013 were incorporated into the Salary Book. It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2013 salary schedule book may be corrected administratively by Human Resources.
