Irey; Controller Mike Namie; Sheriff Sam Romano; and District Attorney Steve Toprani. Absent being: Commissioner Larry Maggi. Also being present: Deputy Warden John Temas; Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; JoAnn Metz, Commissioner's Office; Josh Hatfield, Deputy Controller; Barb Miller, Observer -Reporter; and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Vice Chairman Burns called the meeting to order at approximately 11:40 a.m. Vice Chairman Burns asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 8-P-10, dated August 18, 2010. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mr. Burns, that Minute No. 8-P-10 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for August 2010: Administrative Fee $ 2,620.91 Social Security 800.00 Monthly Sub Total 3,420.91 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 30,063.82 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for the Month of August 2010 Billed Collected Work Release $26,062.50 $25,858.50 Weekenders $ 2,905.00 2,905.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) -0- Monthly Sub -Total $28,967.50 $28,763.50 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $202,475.04 $202,701.04 Status of prisoners confined at the end of August 2010 • MALES FEMALES TOTAL Full Time 100 14 114 Work Release 45 Weekend prisoners 10 5 2 50 12 Unsentenced prisoners MINUTE PRISON BOARD BOOK WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Awaiting sentencing and/or trial 146 TOTAL PRISONERS 301 MALES Examinations performed by the 24 170 45 346 FEMALES TOTAL physician 73 33 106 New commitments 30 Repeat patients 76 Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 11 Moved by Mr. Romano, seconded by Mr. Namie, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of August 2010 in the amount of $50,355.19. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Ms. Irey, approving the bills for the month of August 2010. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS Solicitor DeHaven updated the Board regarding the Thomas King case and noted that the U. S. 3"a Circuit Court of Appeals has dismissed the suit against the County. He noted that at this point in time the Prison Board is only involved in three pending cases which are Paith, Hookey and Montgomery.
