Washington County Prison Board
Washington, PA, January 19, 2011
The Annual Reorganization Meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor
Conference Room, Courthouse Square, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present:
Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey Vaughan, Controller Michael Namie; and Sheriff Sam
Romano. Absent being; Steve Toprani, District Attorney. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Scott Fergus,
Director of Administration; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative
Assistant; Chuck Nicholls, Director of Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter, and Jim Jefferson,
WJPA.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m.
At this time Chairman Maggi entertained nominations for Chairman, Vice -Chairman and Secretary of the
Prison Board for 2011.
Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Romano, to nominate Commissioner Maggi as Chairman, Commissioner
Burns as Vice -Chairman and Controller Namie as Secretary of the Prison Board for 2011.
Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
PUBLIC COMMENTS

MEETING DATES AND TIMES
It was the consensus of the Board that the Prison Board will meet at 11:30 a.m. on the dates listed below which
coincide with the same week of a bi-weekly meeting of the Board of Commissioners:

APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. 12-P-10, dated
December 15, 2010.
Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Namie, that Minute No. 12-P-10 be approved as written. Motion carried
unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for December, 2010:
Administrative Fee $ 2,608.90
Social Security 800.00
Tylenol 1,457.49
Monthly Sub Total 4,866.39
Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 45,736.64

Moved by Ms. Irey, seconded by Mr. Namie, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".

Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the
month of December 2010 in the amount of $78,961.68.
Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Ms. Irey, approving the bills for the month of December 2010. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and
made a part hereof.)

There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately 11:36 a.m.
