HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 5-P-11 - 5-18-2011 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Minute No. 5-P-11 �, Washington County Prison Board z E Washington, PA, May 18, 2011 U_ The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th floor Conference Room, V C Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: 2 0 Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey Vaughan; Controller Michael Namie; Sheriff Sam a Romano and District Attorney Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Chuck Nicholls, Director Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m. Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No.4-P-11, dated April 20, 2011. Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Toprani, that Minute No. 4-P-11 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of brisoners for April 2011: Administrative Fee $ 2,512.26 Social Security 1,600.00 Monthly Sub Total 4,112.26 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $ 15,169.26 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for April 2011 Billed Collected Work Release $ 9,616.00 $ 9,540.00 Weekenders $ 2,040.00 2,040.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (Minus) -0- Monthly Sub -Total $11,656.00 $11,508.00 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $61,298.04 $61,489.54 Status of prisoners confined at the end of April 2011: MALES FEMALES TOTAL Full Time 87 7 94 Work Release 19 4 23 Weekend prisoners 7 4 11 Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial 148 42 190 TOTAL PRISONERS 261 57 318 MALES FEMALES TOTAL Examinations performed by the physician 66 41 107 New commitments 12 416 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Repeat patients 95 Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 10 Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills for the month of April in the amount of $74,254.35. Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mr. Romano, approving the bills for the month of April. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.)
