Washington County Prison Board
Washington, PA, September 14, 2011
The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the Washington County Correctional
Facility, Cherry Way, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry
Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey Vaughan; Controller Michael Namie; Sheriff Sam Romano and District
Attorney Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven and Mary Lyn Drewtiz, Solicitors;
Scott Fergus, Director of Administration; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Chuck
Nicholls, Director Human Resources; Joy Sprowl, Commissioners' Office; Harlan Shober, interested citizen; Barbara
Miller, Observer -Reporter and Jim Jefferson, WJPA.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m.
Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No.8-P-11, dated
August 10, 2011.
Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Namie, that Minute No. 8-P-11 be approved as written. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".

WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board:
Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for August 2011:

Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
BILLS
Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated SLR 14 in the
amount of $66,364.86.
Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, approving the bills for the month of August. Motion
carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye (See list of bills attached hereto and
made a part hereof.)

NEW BUSINESS
Solicitor DeHaven requested an executive session to discuss an inmate issue.
Meeting reconvened.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately
11:47 a.m.
