HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 11-P-11 - 11-16-2011 - PRISON BOARDM IN UTE BOO K BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA Minute No. 11-P-11 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, November 16, 2011 The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey Vaughan; Controller Michael Namie; Sheriff Sam Romano and District Attorney Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Chuck Nicholls, Director Human Resources; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m. Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No.10-P-11, dated October 16, 2011. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mr. Romano, that Minute No. 10-P-11 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS — None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for November 201_1: Administrative Fee $ 2,758.34 Social Security 800.00 Monthly Sub Total 3,5558.34 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $37,703.48 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for November 2011 Work Release Weekenders Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) Adjustments made to billings (Minus) Monthly Sub -Total Year to date GRAND TOTAL Status of prisoners confined at the end of November 2011: Full Time Work Release Weekend prisoners Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial TOTAL PRISONERS Examinations performed by the physician Billed Collected $ 8,030.80 $ 8,984.80 $ 1,175.00 1,175.00 -0- -0- $ 9,205.80 $ 10,159.80 $161,574.16 $162,605.66 MALES FEMALES TOTAL 79 14 93 28 3 31 6 2 8 150 24 174 263 MALES 78 New commitments Repeat patients Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 10 91 FEMALES 22 306 TOTAL 100 14 86 �zs M IN LITE BOOK BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated October 19th in the amount of $67,431.95. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, approving the bills for the month of November. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS Warden Pelzer noted they are still negotiating with Washington Hospital for a contract with reference to Act 22.
