HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - 12-P-11 - 12-14-2011 - PRISON BOARDM I N U T E B 0 0 K BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA yz9 �J Minute No. 12-P-11 Washington County Prison Board Washington, PA, December 14, 2011 The monthly meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in Washington County Correctional Facility, West Cherry Way, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Bracken Burns and Diana Irey Vaughan; Controller Michael Namie. Absent being: Sheriff Sam Romano and District Attorney Steve Toprani. Also being present: Warden Joe Pelzer; Lynn DeHaven, Solicitor; Mary Helicke, Chief Clerk; Linda Belcher, Administrative Assistant; Chuck Nicholls, Director Human Resources; JoAnn Metz, Joy Sprowls and Marie Trossman, Commissioners' Office; Commissioner -elect Harlan Shober; Barbara Miller, Observer -Reporter and Jim Jefferson, WJPA. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No.11-P-11, dated November 16, 2011. Moved by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Namie, that Minute No. 11-P-11 be approved as written. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS — None WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Pelzer presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for November 2011: Administrative Fee $ 2,448.96 Greene County 39.72 Monthly Sub Total 2,488.68 Year to date GRAND TOTAL $40,192.16 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for Nov ember 2011 Work Release Weekenders Turned over to Clerk of Courts (Minus) Adjustments made to billings (Minus) Monthly Sub -Total Year to date GRAND TOTAL Status of prisoners confined at the end of November 2011: Full Time Work Release Weekend prisoners Unsentenced prisoners Awaiting sentencing and/or trial TOTAL PRISONERS Examinations performed by the physician Billed Collected $ 7,456.80 $ 7,441.80 $ 1,669.00 1,669.00 -0- -0- $ 9,125.80 $ 9,110.80 $170,699.96 $171,716.46 MALES FEMALES TOTAL 59 11 70 29 2 31 12 3 15 164 33 197 264 49 313 MALES FEMALES TOTAL 39 31 70 New commitments 17 53 �130 M I N U T E BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS B 0 0 K WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 9 Moved by Mr. Burns, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, to accept the Warden's Report as per above. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Controller Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated December 14th in the amount of $60,670.41. Moved by Mr. Namie, seconded by Mrs. Irey Vaughan, approving the foregoing bills. Motion carried unanimously by the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None NEW BUSINESS It was noted by Warden Pelzer, with reference to Act 22, that a contract with Washington Physician Hospital Organization, Inc. regarding inmates' medical bills and how they are to be billed has been approved with a savings to the county. Commissioner Irey Vaughan noted she has asked the purchasing department to track the cost of the new program and report back to the Board with this information.
