Minute No. PB 10-16-13 Washington County Prison Board
Washington, Pa., October 16, 2013
The meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor Conference Room, Courthouse
Square, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi and Harlan
Shober; Controller Mike Namie; District Attorney Gene Vittone; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Also present: Warden John
Temas; Deputy Warden Edward Strawn; Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Human Resources Director Chuck Nicholls; Chief
Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; and Observer Reporter representative Barbara Miller.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m.
Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. PB 9-18-13, each
member having received a copy.
It was moved by Mr. Namie and seconded by Mr. Romano that Minute No. PB 9-18-13 be approved following a
correction made. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".

WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Temas presented the following information to the Board:

Warden Temas recommended the Board extend our current bid contract through December 31, 2016 for fire
alarm system inspections to the following vendors:
Fire Fighter Sales & Services Co., Warrendale, Pa. 1st Fire Protection, Cheswick, Pa.
Intelligent Electronic Systems, Bridgeville, Pa. S.A. Comunal Co., Inc., Barberton, Ohio
Simplex Grinnell L.P., Cranberry Township, Pa.

This extension is in accordance with the original bid documents and the total cost for the inspections is approximately
$30,000 for all county -owned buildings over the three-year term of the contact. Extension of this current bid contract
was approved at the Board of Commissioners meeting held October 3, 2013, Minute No. 956.
It was moved by Mr. Shober and seconded by Mr. Vittone to approve the Warden's Report. The motion was
carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
BILLS
Mr. Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated October 16, 2013, in the
amount of $62,466.37.
Moved by Mr. Namie and seconded by Mr. Romano to approve the bills dated October 16, 2013. The motion
carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and
made a part hereof.)
OLD BUSINESS

NEW BUSINESS
None.
Chairman Maggi called an executive session at approximately 11:38 a.m. to discuss inmate matters.
Chairman Maggi reconvened the meeting at approximately 12:13 p.m. following the executive session.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately 12:15 p.m.
