HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - PB 11-6-13 - 11-6-2013 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK . 47 PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA • Minute No. PB 11-6-13 Washington County Prison Board h Washington, Pa., November 6, 2013 z E The meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 7th Floor Conference Room, Courthouse a ISquare, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi and Diana Irey Vaughan; Controller Mike Namie; District Attorney Gene Vittone; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Also present: Warden M 21 John Temas; Deputy Warden Edward Strawn; Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Human Resources Director Chuck Nicholls; E Q Chief Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; and Observer -Reporter representative Barbara Cc Miller. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. a Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. PB 10-16-13, each • member having received a copy. It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Namie that Minute No. PB 10-16-13 be approved following a correction made. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None. WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Temas recommended the Board approve the hire of the following applicants as part-time Correctional Officers: Nicole Dietrich Joel Patterson Jamie Breinig Ernest Durr, Jr. Brittany Bell Ernest Heinrich III John Ritchie Timothy Hornak Katy Dawkins John Dobbin Megan Robinson Warden Temas recommended the Board approve the hire of Paula Kraashar as a part-time licensed practical nurse. Warden Temas recommended the Board approve the renewal of the agreement with Lexis Nexis for legal research for inmates at the rate of $7,197.00 per year, effective through November 30, 2016. There is no increase in cost. This is a stand-alone system and there are no books or CD's. This renewal agreement is contingent upon approval • at the Board of Commissioners meeting to be held Thursday, November 7, 2013, Minute No. 958. Warden Temas recommended the Board approve to extend the current bid contract for laundry supplies through December 31, 2014, to the following vendors: Allegheny Supply, Duncansville, Pa. Gurtler Industries, Inc., South Holland, Ill. Ecolab, Inc., St. Paul, Minn. Yearly laundry supplies costs average around $15,000.00, for multiple departments in the county. This renewal agreement is contingent upon approval at the Board of Commissioners meeting to be held Thursday, November 7, • 2013, Minute No. 958. Warden Temas recommended the Board approve to extend the current bid contract for linen supplies, through December 31, 2014, to the following vendors: ATD American, Wyncote, Pa. Harbor Linen, Cherry Hill, N.J. Standard Textile, Cincinnati, Ohio 488 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Yearly linen supplies costs average around $95,000.00, for multiple departments in the county. This renewal • agreement is contingent upon approval at the Board of Commissioners meeting to be held Thursday, November 7, 2013, Minute No. 958. Chairman Maggi called an executive session at approximately 11:40 a.m. to discuss personnel matters. Chair Maggi reconvened the meeting at approximately 11:45 a.m. following the executive session. Warden Temas respectfully requested the Board approve to terminate the employee discussed during the executive session. It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Vittone to approve the Warden's Report. The motion was is unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS None. OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS None.
