HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - PB 11-20-13 - 11-20-2013 - PRISON BOARDMINUTE BOOK 489 PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA A 4) m e O cc 4 • I 1 Minute No. PB 11-20-13 Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pa., November 20, 2013 The meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the 71h Floor Conference Room, Courthouse Square, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan Shober; Controller Mike Namie; District Attorney Gene Vittone; and Sheriff Sam Romano. Also present: Warden John Temas; Deputy Warden Edward Strawn; Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Human Resources Director Chuck Nicholls; Chief Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Observer Reporter representative Barbara Miller; and WJPA representative Jim Jefferson. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. PB 11-6-13, each member having received a copy. It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Shober that Minute No. PB 11-6-13 be approved as written. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None. WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Temas presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for October 2013. Administrative Fee $2,627.87 Social Security 400.00 Monthly Sub Total 3.027.87 Year-to-date Grand Total $31,382.95 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for October 2013 Billed Collected Work Release $10,717.00 $11,293.00 Weekenders $735.00 $735.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (minus) -0- Monthly Sub Total $11,452.00 $12,028.00 Year-to-date Grand Total $95,926.59 $96,653.59 Status of prisoners confined at the end of October 2013, Males Females Total Full time 63 8 71 Work release 29 1 30 Weekend prisoners 4 1 5 Unsentenced prisoners awaiting sentencing and/or trial 191 42 233 Total Prisoners 287 52 339 Males Females Total Examinations performed by the physician 39 24 63 New commitments 5 Repeat patients 58 Medical Transports performed by the Sheriff 32 Warden Temas recommended the Board approve the hiring of the following applicants as part-time Correctional Officers: Jacob Allridge and John Lones. 490 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA Moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Romano to approve the Warden's Report. The motion carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Mr. Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated November 20, 2013, in the amount of $53,997.34. Moved by Mr. Namie and seconded by Mrs. Vaughan to approve the bills dated November 20, 2013. The motion carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS None.
