HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - PB 6-18-14 - 6-18-2014 - PRISON BOARD27 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA IMR LIMITED El316@49L.D Minute No. PB 6-18-14 Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pennsylvania, June 18, 2014 The meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the Washington County Correctional Facility,100 West Cherry Avenue, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan G. Shober, Jr.; Controller Michael Namie; and Sheriff Samuel Romano. Also present: Warden John Temas; Deputy Warden of Security Edward Strawn; Deputy Warden of Operations Donald Waugh; Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Human Resources Director Kathleen Bali; Chief Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Director of Administration Scott Fergus; Administrative Assistants Joy Orndoff, Marie Trossman and Randi Marodi; and Observer -Reporter representative Barbara Miller. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:40 a.m. Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. PB 6-4-14, each member having received a copy. It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Namie that Minute No. PB 6-4-14 be approved. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating „Aye„ PUBLIC COMMENTS None. WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Temas presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for Mav 2014, Administrative Fee $2,669.50 Social Security. 1,200.00 Tylenol -0- Monthly sub -total $3.869.50 Year-to-date grand total $14,988.35 Program Fees and Room and Board Income for Mav 2014 Billed Collected Work release $9,662.98 $10,748.00 Weekenders $900.00 $900.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (minus) -0- Monthly sub -total $10,562.98 $11,648.00 Year-to-date grand total $52,406.48 $52,987.48 Status of prisoners confined at the end of Mav 2014 Males Females Total Full time 68 7 75 Work release 32 3 35 Weekend prisoners 3 1 4 Unsentenced prisoners awaiting sentencing and/or trial 181 46 227 Total prisoners 284 57 341 Males Females Total Examinations performed by the physician 44 16 60 New commitments 3 Repeat patients 57 Medical transports performed by the Sheriff 22 CIA MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA [MR LIMITED E1316649LD Warden Temas presented to the board for their consideration and approval to hire the following individuals as part-time correction officers: Kirstie Bruno Robert Debowski Joseph Gilbert Travis Gatten Abigail Neal Thomas Wilt Kaleb Seabright Charles Miller Keith Gembarosky Patrick Jones Phillip Chappel Anna Ponce Melissa Rohland Jamie Restanio It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Romano to approve the Warden's Report. The motion carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Mr. Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated June 18, 2014, in the amount of $80,123,81. Moved by Mr. Namie and seconded by Mr. Shober to approve the bills dated June 18, 2014. The motion carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS Chairman Maggi called an executive session at approximately 11:45 a.m. to discuss personnel matters. Chairman Maggi reconvened the meeting at 12:07 a.m. following the executive session. Mr. Shober moved to eliminate two vacant part-time captain positions and create two full time captain positions. The motion was seconded by Mrs. Vaughan to approve the personnel changes. The motion carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". Mr. Namie noted to the Board that the personnel changes will be presented for approval at the Salary Board meeting to be held on June 19, 2014.
