HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOMM - Meeting Minutes - PB 6-17-15 - 6-17-2015 - PRISON BOARD65 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA IMR LIMITED El316i 49L.D Minute No. PB 6-17-15 Washington County Prison Board Washington, Pennsylvania, June 17, 2015 The meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the Washington County Correctional Facility, 100 West Cherry Avenue, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan G. Shober, Jr.; Deputy Controller Joshua Hatfield; Sheriff Samuel Romano; District Attorney Eugene Vittone and Judge John DiSalle. Absent was Controller Michael Namie. Also present were: Warden John Temas; Solicitor Lynn DeHaven; Director of Administration Scott Fergus; Chief Clerk Mary Helicke; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Human Resources Director Kathleen Bali; Human Resources Assistant Director Barbie Castrucci; Administrative Assistants Joy Orndoff and Randi Marodi; Secretary Paula Jansante and Observer -Reporter representative Barbara Miller. Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:35 a.m. Chairman Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute No. PB 5-20-15, each member having received a copy. It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Shober that Minute No. PB 5-20-15 be approved. The motion was carried with the majority of the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". PUBLIC COMMENTS None. WARDEN'S REPORT Warden Temas presented the following information to the Board: Income from other units for the maintenance of prisoners for May 2015 Administrative Fee $2,491.60 Social Security $2,000.00 Tylenol -0- Monthly sub -total $4.491.60 Year-to-date grand total $20,587.66 Proaram Fees and Room and Board Income for May 2015 Billed Collected Work release $12,549.50 $13,086.30 Weekenders $ 1,550.00 $ 1,550.00 Turned over to Clerk of Courts (minus) -0- Adjustments made to billings (minus) -0- Monthly sub -total $14,099.50 $14,636.30 Year-to-date grand total $81,582.58 $83,476.38 Status of prisoners confined at the end of May 2015 Males Females Total Full time 100 13 113 Work release 40 2 42 Weekend prisoners 7 2 9 Unsentenced prisoners awaiting sentencing and/or trial 157 43 200 Total prisoners 304 60 364 Males Females Total Examinations performed by the physician 24 29 53 New commitments 6 Repeat patients 47 Medical transports performed by the Sheriff 21 Contracted Housing Fee/Month $ 0.00 Monthly sub -total $ 0.00 Year-to-date grand total $ 0.00 MINUTE BOOK PRISON BOARD IMR LIMITED E1316649LD WASHINGTON COUNTY, PENNSYLANIA Warden Temas recommended to the Board to approve a month -to -month extension of the current bid contract with Keefe Supply Company, Strongsville, Ohio for the purpose of providing commissary items to the inmates of the Correctional Facility. The current contract expiration date is July 18, 2015. Purchasing is requesting permission to advertise for new bid submissions. This bid award was approved at the Board of Commissioners meeting held June 4, 2015, Minute No. 994 Chairman Maggi called an executive session at approximately 11:36 a.m. to discuss personnel matters. Chairman Maggi reconvened the meeting at 11:42 a.m. following the executive session. Warden Temas recommended to the Board to approve the termination of employment of Natasha Mikush. It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Shober to approve the Warden's Report. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". BILLS Mr. Hatfield presented to the Board for their consideration and approval the bills dated June 17, 2015, in the amount of $68,605.03. It was moved by Mr. Hatfield and seconded by Mrs. Vaughan to approve the bills dated June 17, 2015. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.) OLD BUSINESS None. NEW BUSINESS None.
