Salary Board Minute No. SB 9-21-17 Washington, Pa., September 21, 2017
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse
Square Office Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following
members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan G. Shober, Jr.;
Controller Mike Namie. Also being present: Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Director of Administration Scott
Fergus; Chief Clerk Cynthia B. Griffin; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Executive Secretary Randi
Marodi; Human Resources representative April Jones; Finance Director Josh Hatfield; Building and Grounds
Director Justin Welsh; health center employees Mary Cheek and Mary Glendenning and Observer -Reporter
representative Barb Miller.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:20 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving Minute No. SB 9-7-17 dated
September 7, 2017 as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Mr. Shober — Yes; Mrs. Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
PUBLIC COMMENT
None.
FOR THE BOARD'S CONSIDERATION
PARKS
Parks, summer employee; $10.00/hour; extend one (1) position, not to exceed budget amount,
effective retroactive to 8/26/17 through 9/17/17.
CORRECTIONAL FACILITY
Jail Administration, Visitors Receptionist; Pay Grade 4 — 90% - $17.157; abolish one (1) vacant full-
time union position effective 9/21/17.
Jail Administration, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); 90% - $20.40/hour; create four (4) part-time
temporary positions effective 9/21/17. The positions will be abolished when the required training is
complete.
Jail Administration, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN); 90% - $20.40/hour; create three (3) full-time
temporary positions effective 9/21/17. The positions will be abolished when the required training is
complete.
Jail Security, Correctional Officer I; 80% - $15.77; create one (1) full-time »pion position effective
9/21/17.
AGING SERVICES
Aging, Assistant Director of Aging; $56,164.97/year reduced to $52,35�.Kjyear; reduction in annual
salary for one (1) vacant full-time salaried position effective 9/21/17.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH AND DEVELOPMENTAL SERVICES
BHDS, Mental Health Program Specialist II; $47,900.84/year reduced to $47,426.00/year; reduction
in annual salary for one (1) vacant full-time salaried position effective 9/21 /17.
BHDS, Mental Health Program Specialist I; $39,994.97/year reduced to $35,500.00/year; reduction in
annual salary for one (1) vacant full-time salaried position effective 9/21/17.
Moved by Mrs. Vaughan; seconded by Mr. Shober, approving the foregoing personnel request.

Chairman Maggi noted for the record the following leaves of absences:

Bette Jo Puskarich, Bookkeeper II, FMLA medical, 09/06/17 to 09/19/17
Christina Wehner, Social Services Director, FMLA medical, 09/13/17 to 10/25/17
Steven Wright, Utility Worker, FMLA medical, 09/05/17 to 11/28/17
Chairman Maggi stated for the record, items noted during 2017 were incorporated into the Salary
Book. It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2017 salary schedule book
may be corrected administratively by Human Resources.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting recessed at approximately
10:21 a.m.
