Washington County Retirement Board
March 6, 2018
A special meeting of the Washington County Retirement Board was held at approximately
9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in the Public Meeting Room with the following members being
present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan, and Harlan G. Shober, Jr., Controller
Michael Namie and Treasurer Francis King. Also present: Director of Finance Joshua Hatfield, Lee
Martin representing Peirce Park, Leigh Shapiro Williamson and Michael Clare representing GW&K
Investment Management, Michael Jaje representing Atlanta Capital, and Patmon Malcom and Jessie
Magee representing Earnest Partners.
The purpose of this special meeting was to hear presentations and vote on a smid cap manager.
Presentations were given by the following:
GW&K Investment Management — Leigh Shapiro Williamson and Michael Clare.
Atlanta Capital — Michael Jaj e.
Earnest Partners — Patmon Malcom and Jessie Magee.
All presentation materials are available for inspection in the Office of the Controller.
Following a discussion by the Board, a motion was made by Mrs. Vaughan to hire GW&K. The
motion was seconded by Mr. Maggi.
Funding to GW&K will be made from a reallocation of a portion of assets from Wellington and
from the termination of Emerald Advisors.
Roll call vote taken:
Mr. Namie — yes; Mr. King — yes; Mr. Shober — yes; Mrs. Vaughan — yes; Mr. Maggi — yes.
Motion carried unanimously.
In other business, Mr. Martin presented educational material on defensive equity asset class
managers to the Board for their review.
Mr. Maggi adjourned the meeting at 11:55 a.m.
