Salary Board Minute No. SB 8-16-18 August 16, 2018
The Washington County Salary Board met in session in the Public Meeting Room of the Courthouse
Square Office. Building, Washington, Pennsylvania, for the purpose of reconvening with the following
members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan and Harlan G. Shober, Jr.;
Controller Mike Namie. Also being present: Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Director of Administration Scott
Fergus; Chief Clerk Cynthia B. Griffin; Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Executive Secretaries
Marie Trossman and Randi Marodi; Human Resources Acting Director Andrea Johnston; Treasurer Francis
King; Court Administrator Patrick Grimm; Korn Ferry Hay Group representative Dave Reichert; Marquette
representative Lee Martin; Observer -Reporter representative Barbara Miller; and student (job shadow) Abigail
Daniels.
Chairman Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 10:30 a.m.
Moved by Mrs. Vaughan, seconded by Mr. Namie, approving Minute No. SB 7-19-18 dated
July 19, 2018, as written.
Roll call vote taken:
Mr. Shober — Yes; Mrs. Vaughan — Yes; Mr. Maggi — Yes; Mr. Namie — Yes.
Motion carried unanimously.

COURTS
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Magisterial District Judge
Hopkins, Magisterial District Judge Clerk; Pay Grade 4 — 90% - $17.586/hour; abolish one vacant full time
union position effective 8/16/18.
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Magisterial District Judge
McDonald, Magisterial District Judge Clerk; Pay Grade 4 — 90% - $17.586/hour; create one full time union
position effective 8/16/18.
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Court Administrator,
Conflict Attorney; $ 63,523. 00 /year; create one full time salaried position effective 8/16/18.
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Court Administrator,
Receptionist/Secretary; $22,642.62/year; create one part time salaried position effective 8/16/18.
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Adult Probation,
Pretrial/Specialty Courts Coordinator; $50,448.97/year; create one full time salaried position effective the
date following the expiration of the current grant.
Mrs. Vaughan presented to the board on behalf of President Judge Emery, Adult Probation,
Probation Monitor; $16.95/hour (equivalent to $35,256.00/year); create two part time salaried positions
effective 8/16/18.

BHDS, Administrative Assistant; $38,003.11 /year reduced to $32,500.00/year; reduction in annual
salary for one vacant full time salaried position effective 8/16/18.
BHDS, Administrative Assistant; $35,568.26/year reduced to $32,500.00/year; reduction in annual
salary for one (1) vacant full time salaried position effective 8/16/18.
Moved by Mrs. Vaughan; seconded by Mr. Shober, approving the foregoing personnel request.

Chairman Maggi stated for the record, items noted during 2018 were incorporated into the Salary
Book. It is the consensus of the Salary Board that any procedural errors in the 2018 salary schedule book
may be corrected administratively by Human Resources.
There being no further business, Chairman Maggi declared the meeting recessed at approximately
10:34 a.m.
