Minute No. PB 9-19-18 September 19, 2018
The meeting of the Washington County Prison Board was held in the Washington County
Correctional Facility, 100 West Cherry Avenue, Washington, Pennsylvania, with the following
members being present: Commissioners Larry Maggi, Diana Irey Vaughan; Harlan G. Shober, Jr.; Judge
John DiSalle; Controller Mike Namie; Sheriff Sam Romano; and District Attorney Gene Vittone. Also
present: Warden Ed Strawn; Solicitor J. Lynn DeHaven; Finance Director Joshua Hatfield; Deputy
Controller Cathy Sams; Human Resources Acting Director Andrea Johnston; Chief Clerk Cindy Griffin;
Administrative Assistant Joyce Thornburg; Executive Secretaries Joy Orndoff, Marie Trossman and
Randi Marodi: Observer -Reporter representative Barbara Miller; and WJPA representative Bruce
Sakalik.
Mr. Maggi called the meeting to order at approximately 11:30 a.m.
Mr. Maggi asked if there were any corrections, additions or omissions to Minute
No. PB 8-15-18, dated August 15, 2018, each member having received a copy.
It was moved by Mr. Vittone and seconded by Mr. Namie that Minute No. PB 8-15-18, be
approved. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating
'Aye".
PUBLIC COMMENTS
None.
WARDEN'S REPORT
Warden Strawn presented the following information to the Board:
Income from Other Units for the Maintenance of Inmates for August 2018
Administrative Fee $11,841.75

Warden Strawn recommended to the Board, on behalf of the Washington County Correctional
Facility, and pursuant to Act 142, Senate Bill 1154, effective February 20, 2001, to authorize a 30-day
extension of the bid award for bread products for the correctional facility to the following vendors, as
additional time is needed to evaluate the bid responses:
Bimbo Foods, Albany, NY Alfred Nickles Bakery, Navarre, OH

It was moved by Mrs. Vaughan and seconded by Mr. Romano, approving the Warden's Report.
The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval by stating "Aye".
BILLS
Mr. Namie presented to the Board for their consideration and approval of the bills dated
September 19, 2018, in the amount of $176,179.69.
It was moved by Mr. Namie and seconded by Mr. Shober, approving the bills dated
September 19, 2018. The motion was carried unanimously with the Board signifying their approval
by stating "Aye". (See list of bills attached hereto and made a part hereof.)

None.
There being no further business, Mr. Maggi declared the meeting adjourned at approximately
11:32 a.m.
